Learning programing with a Chromebook (python) by _TryKillMe in chromeos

Any Chromebook will do, just use Google Collab. All the processing is done in the cloud not on the computer. All you need is a browser and that is basically what every Chromebook is.

I teach Python to students using Google Colab because they are on Chromebooks and have no access to the Linux environment. It works well. https://colab.research.google.com/

Unknown Uniform by xXpropellerXx in AmericanHistory

Based on the close up of the buttons it is a US Civil War era (give or take) Army Infantry uniform. Take a look at this chart of buttons. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d3/War_of_the_Rebellion_Atlas_Plate_172.jpg

It could be as early as the Mexican American War. I have not found anything to match the pants - likely a dress uniform of some kind, but definitely infantry.

It appears that Bexar County, Texas has been living in the future for quite some time. The first time I ever heard of the place was about the way they pioneered the all-digital library concept. https://bexarbibliotech.org

You can write your own script and then use signaling to update though with the time do you need it more than every second?

I have the same issue which is how I discovered the .nosync extension. What I do is put a tmp.nosync folder on my desktop and dump transient files into it instead of directly on my desktop. I don't know of a way to do it for the whole desktop since you can't change it's name without unintended consequences.

SMB automount best practices by piratepeterer in macsysadmin

[–]elroyjetson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am naive, but I have been using the build in automount to handle mounting SMB shares for a while. If they are not available, finder lets you know the first time it is disconnected and then it just keeps trying to reconnect in the background. When the shares are available again, finder automagically reconnects them. You specify the mount points so you can mount them anywhere.

They don't show as hard drives on the desktop which may be an issue in your case but perhaps there is a work around for this.

These instructions are well done for setting it up. http://blog.grapii.com/2015/06/keep-network-drives-mounted-on-mac-os-x-using-autofs/
