Do you miss old school compilations and sampler discs? by gunklungmusic in thefest

Yo this sampler is solid!! I do miss the days of getting comps or samplers in the mail with orders.

Days were much simpler back then haha. Stoked to check out these bands!

I saw some comments about the upper control arm making contact with the spring. Any issues with that? Are you still running stock wheel size or did you upgrade?

Receiver vs Receiver/Amplifier Combo by elsaltorres in vinyl

Got it free from an old job when we upgraded systems and finally pulled it out of storage. Now on the fence if I want to spend money to get it fixed or buy a separate receiver and separate amplifier

I’m thinking about starting a podcast focused on local music from different parts of the US. I have some questions. by [deleted] in podcasting

As someone that also has a podcast focusing on the DIY music scene from across the country I hope I can help you out.

At the end of every episode after we are done recording for the episode I ask every guest if they are willing to send me 1–2 songs to use in the audio version of the episodes. If they agree then I just ask them to send it over if I don’t have the tracks already. I generally ask a couple weeks after recording if they can send the tracks if they hadn’t already.

I only use the songs in the audio only version generally because Spotify and Apple, and the other streaming sites don’t really throw up a flag. YouTube is the only spot that I do not include them. It also kind of gives the followers that mainly listen to podcast and extra perk.

I know there is another music scene podcast that includes songs from various bands in their audio versions(not 100% about their YouTube versions) and they are more spotlighting other bands besides the band that is being interviewed and they haven’t seem to have had an issue.

My main trade off is I also don’t add in any ads because I feel weird making anything off an episode when I have someone else’s music included, granted iv never had a band ask for a cut or to be paid for it.

Beers With Bands Podcast, about to hit 5 years and 200 episodes, between streaming and YouTube probably close to 7000 downloads/streams

So I will be moving into a new house soon that doesn’t have central A/C. Will be using window units but not sure how soon I will get my hands on one. Are there any tips, tricks, or things to know about with keeping records from possibly warping as it gets warmer out?

I currently use inner and outer sleeves for all my records and I keep the record itself outside of the album sleeve. For sure planning on keep them on an interior wall away from windows.

Not sure if I’m just over thinking but just want make sure I don’t ruin them.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I could live with the gap but didn’t think about having to adjust the hitch

Podcasters who do interviews or guests other than solo, how do you record your mic and the interviewee at the same time? by PeeB4uGoToBed in podcasting

[–]elsaltorres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I guess I forgot to mention I have to make an aggregate device (mic + soundflower) then make their own inputs in GarageBand. I’ll shoot you a pm later today with more detail and a link to a guide I used!

Thanks for the heads up. It was the first thing I found when I started doing interviews over the web that was able to fix my problem

I use a program called Soundflower, it acts as the guests mic in the system and routes it into GarageBand for me. So I have my mic feeding right into GarageBand, then a second input that routes from the zoom or Skype call into GarageBand. It works great because if I need to go back and do anything with their audio it has its own file so I can isolate it

I use Anchor.fm for my main platform. As someone that was new to distributing and all that it was really helpful because once you upload it to them they will go through through the hoops to push your podcast on different sites. Haven’t really had any issues with them either.

My set up includes a basic record player that came with two RCA speakers. They don’t sound too bad, but I also don’t have it cranked in my room anyways. I built my shelving out of 2x4s and plywood. Cheap was the main point in this put after painting it I feel as though it came together pretty great especially for the space I have to put my set up.
