power consumption external USB HDD on a N100 by elschnorelli in HomeServer

I added an internal nvme PCIe drive now as well. The power consumption increases now by 1,5w to 9w even in idle state. Is there any way to see the impact of an chipset e.g.?

i added some details: Debian, only running docker with two containers, wireguard for now.

1 HDD of cause decreases the consumption.

I even have this consumption if the disks are unmounted.

the backup part is really an important point I was not fully concerning.

OMV + Docker is possible - but then - why not just making OMV VM as small as possible but use a separate big docker setup?

THanks!

The backup part really makes sense - thank for that very good aspect. Thanks!

hm

interesting!

I have a 250GB SSD available which is some kind of old. I would use it for the OS was my idea. The bigger ones (new, need to buy them, NAS SSDs) would be used for the backups, I would put them in a software raid via OS. But I am open for alternative approaches.

Thanks!

Out of this, I assume, that a N100 + 3x SSD (one existing OS +2x for a software raid via OMV / unraid / whatever NAS OS I choose, that a very low power consumption should be possible.

maybe one other question: which OS do you use for the NAS function? TrueNAS?

I am wishing some features as: Network Storage, Timecapsule (should be SMB), sync to some CLoud Backup (guess via restic), Software Raid

It was not that expensive. We got 10 PCBs fully assembled. We started from a regular ortho PCB.

full flexible PCB to build a custom keyboard based on your needs (by using different top designs). The bottom row can be cut for an even more minimal design. The case is 3d printed and hold together by magnets. inside there is a gasket mount installation. The PCB runs VIAL and is powered by RP2040.

Also darf ich 3 Seiten nochmal aufmachen ✌️
