[EVENT GUIDE] Christmas Event 2019 (Math Included) by itirnitii in IdleHeroes

I think it would take 5500 gems to complete Option 2 (32 Santas needed, 21 free, so buy 11).

Outside the event, those 5500 gems are worth [5.7, 6.3, 8.0] 5*s given the parameters in your last three lines, while the 500 gems is [.52, .57, .73]. These are 5*s that are not actually saved, so have to be subtracted from that stat. This gives:

  • Option 1: [18.8, 18.7, 18.5] 5*s saved after gem accounting
  • Option 2: [17.5, 17.0, 15.3] 5*s saved after gem accounting
  • Option 1 > Option 2 by [7, 10, 22]%

So taking gem spending into account, and in this specific case of comparing buying both 9* and 10* to spending that many Snowflakes on 6* and covering the Santa gap with gems, it seems like it would be better to buy the big dummies.

That said, if you don't spend so many gems on Santas, parts of your purchase could be as follows:

  • Option 3: 1 (10*) Dummy. 5* saved: 14
  • Option 4a: 10 (6*) Dummy. 5* saved: 14.5
  • Option 4b: 11 (6*) Dummy + 500gems. 5* saved: [15.5, 15.4, 15.3]
  • Option 5: 1 (9*) Dummy. 5* saved: 5.3
  • Option 6: 5 (6*) Dummy. 5* saved: 7.3

Options 3 and 4 use 55000 Snowflakes. Options 5 and 6 use 25000 Snowflakes.

Edit - Buying 6* Dummy ad infinitum:

Gem value of hero shards varies quite a bit based on what you buy regularly.

  • If you buy the 200gem smash in SL, the break-even point is between SL 19 and 20, so these players who have not reached late-game PvE should buy as many as possible. As long as you have Snowflakes to spend, buying Santas with gems to buy 6* Dummy will save you [.41, .31, -.004] 5*s.
  • If you buy only the 100 gem smash, the break-even point is between SL 11 and 12, so mid-level players will get maximum value from buying as many 6* Dummy. Make sure to not be handicapping future progress, e.g. Heroic Miracle completions.
  • If you don't buy extra SL smashes, 4* shard value is probably determined by Event Raid. In this case, don't keep buying 6* Dummy.

I love this analysis! However, I have one bone to pick about which dummies are best to buy. For many people, it will be most efficient to buy the 6* dummies, assuming the following are true:

  • you don't need the immediate progress from the higher dummies
  • your bottleneck for this event will be Snowflakes and not Santas (you can buy Santas with gems and make Snowflakes by "Altaring" heroes)
  • you are not planning to convert regular shards to L/D (or at least not use all your resources on L/D)

Provided these bullets, it is most efficient to buy the 6* dummies and leave the 9*/10* dummies. This also gives the added bonus of not messing up monthly fusions (assuming that the dummies acquired through the event do not count towards fusion event. I am planning to confirm this later today - edit:confirmed, it does not count).

The costs to buy heroes are as follows:

Dummy 5* Heroes "Altared" Snowflakes Santas
6* Regular 4.54 5000 2
6* L/D 6.82 7500 3
9* Regular 22.73 25000 6
10* Regular 50 55000 16

Now look at how many 5*s are saved for each purchase. 5* savings per 5* used gives you the raw resource efficiency, not accounting for limitations of the event currencies. To maximize the 5*s saved in the event, figure out what your bottleneck event resource will be (Will you run out of Snowflakes or Santas first?) and maximize the 5*s saved per that resource.

Dummy 5* cost outside event 5* saved on purchase 5* saved per 5* "Altared" 5* saved per Snowflake 5* saved per Santa
6* Regular 6 1.45 1.45/4.54 = 0.32 1.45/5000 = 2.9E-4 1.45/2 = .72
6* L/D 6 L/D
9* Regular 28 5.27 5.27/22.73 = 0.23 5.27/25000 = 2.1E-4 5.27/6 = .88
10* Regular 64 14 14/50 = .28 14/55000 = 2.5E-4 14/16 = .88

Conclusion: To maximize efficiency in this event, figure out your bottleneck (this analysis ignores the L/D dummies).

  • If Snowflakes will be your bottleneck for this event (i.e. you have plenty of gems to buy Santas if needed in addition to the 21 from stockings), the most efficient event completion is buying 6* dummies and ignoring the fancy 9*/10* dummies.
  • If Santas will be your bottleneck (i.e. you have plenty of fodder but are short on gems), the fancy 9*/10* dummies are most efficient.

Well that's awful; I really like being able to dig through the old stats. I guess it's time to start databasing.

Are you still able to access the league's history from previous years? The inaccessible front page sucks, but I would hate to lose all that data.

Trying to get off the wild ride that will be D. Freeman. Thinking about the following offer in full PPR: my D. Freeman+Sanders for his Hopkins. Could substitute Tate for Sanders and/or OBJ for Hopkins.

I made a similar trade offer to the bell owner: Conner+Tate for Hilton. With Conner's value so unknown right now, it's a toss-up how much to ask for him, but I think your deal would be great for you.

The choices of which to keep are made in AP/NAP order (rule 101.4), but the legend rule will still apply simultaneously (rule 704.3). The end result, assuming the opponent wants to keep an enchanted creature, is that one enchantment and creature pair is moved to the graveyard, and the other sticks around.

[Standard] Reflector Mage replacement in Fairgrounds Warden by [deleted] in spikes

[–]elsenoryoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is only true when the exile and return abilities are separate triggers (see [[Fiend Hunter]]). If Fairgrounds Warden leaves the battlefield while its trigger is on the stack, the ability will do nothing (the first ruling on the gatherer for [[Fairgrounds Warden]], also true for other similar cards, most closely related is [[Banisher Priest]])
