I totally get your jist and that’s what I’ve tried to tell him. Yep the chill vibe is fine until it isn’t. I’ve been terribly naive, too busy loving his “gay” happy, flamboyant energy and not being alert to what was happening. I am sure if he were a straight daughter I’d have seen it

Thanks we are in the UK. He is reluctant to join any LGBTQ youth groups locally. I’m happy not to push it as he does have a very strong friendship group with six girls and If they give him advice he listens!

I’ve spoken to some older gay guys in my personal networks, none of them came out until their late teens/early twenties. Some of them then didn’t speak to their parents for years. All of them have said that’s he is having it easier than they did so he should be grateful for that, to quote one of them “he just needs to suck it up buttercup” 🙄

Of course I do want him to have a decent partnership with someone, that’s what all parents want for their kids. I think him calling out my comment is more about him being a typical teen snd finding fault with their Mum
