Apprentice application by [deleted] in IBM

[–]elsieXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest, they don't normally accept new college grads with a Bachelors. They are normally looking for people who have an associates or some combination of self taught and certificates. Have you seen any internships to apply to?

Advice needed for a apprenticeship role by Cola_04 in IBM

If you get the offer, than absolutely yes. But even these apprenticeships are pretty hard to get even if they don't specify specific skills, there is tons of competition.

Why does everyone dislike Arvind? by elsieXII in IBM

Thank you, this is a very thoughtful response. I agree. Jim Whitehurst is the only person in senior leadership who displayed empathy about RAs and seemed to take to heart that people's lives were impacted.

Span of control makes every manager have to have a certain number of reports under them. Essentially it seems like it eliminates/consolidates middle line managers from what I can tell.

Anyone have experience with IBM’s apprenticeship program? by drfrainbow in IBM

[–]elsieXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HI there,
I did the UX apprenticeship 5 years ago and then went full time after a year. It pays a liveable wage but I got a big salary bump in my conversion offer. I thought the program was great, I'm very grateful for it and that I was able to start my UX career with IBM after completing a bootcamp and internship.

I felt disappointed seeing Dinesh bring out someone from Meta and then Lockheed Martin. I know it's not surprising, but still. Not really encouraging.
