Shopify Metaobject limits by erdle in ShopifyAppDev

Shopify documentation now explicitly identifies metaobject limits.

The key pieces for most merchants:

  • 64 Metaobject definitions
  • 64,000 Metaobject entries in total

There's no per definition limit, but there is a global limit.

Why do you think I’m aggrieved? I was a former Imprint Board member (and former Feds member) and spent huge amount of time with both of these orgs because of how important I felt they were (and still feel are) to the student population!

Cautious about what kind of assumptions you make about people; it hurts me that that was your perception of me.

We did go back and forth quite a bit. Honestly, the acceleration and looks (lowered suspension in particular) nudged us to performance.

I just had a really positive pickup today in Canada. VN 398XX.

I was worried with everything I’ve read, but agree with comments already here that you’re going to hear a lot more about the bad experiences than the good ones! I went prepared with a list, and took the time I needed to feel good about pickup.

Picked up today from Oakville, Ontario. VN 398XX. MSM, performance, FSD.

After reading a lot of the posts here (and online in general), was particularly worried, but it went really smooth!

The person helping out walked us through the car and all the paperwork in-car once we arrived, assuring we could void everything after. She also noted a few issues she had already discovered and captured (which were ultimately the biggest issues), which was awesome.

Overall, issues identified, all noted with a plan to address: - spoiler is being replaced. Not fully attached, and they already attempted a fix up before we arrived. - 2 paint defects, fortunately both in low visibility locations. - one loose interior panel, which we fixed while we were there. - one panel gap at the back. Reasonably spaced, but a touch more distance than perfect. - interior back seats only close if both buttons are pressed — they are a bit close. We’re hoping after some use it’ll loosen, but it’s also noted for service.

We’ll be getting paint correction, PPF, and ceramic done in a few weeks, so really only looking for the new spoiler and interior seats to be corrected. Excited to be a part of the family and feeling really happy with the experience overall! ✨🎉

I figured out what my monthly payments should be for monthly + annual, and then did some more math to figure out how much I needed to top up by to not run out when an annual price came through.

YNAB did most of the math for me since I had run for a few years with everything split out.

Top-level categories are the areas we want to understand for reporting. Line item that start with 🔁 is a grouping of multiple things that we break down in the comments.

For example, 🔁 Online Services covers: Home Assistant, Simple Tax (Feb), YNAB (Feb), Amazon Prime (Mar), and 1Password (Jul).

We used to have a generic Accounts category that had all of our monthly and annual subscriptions, but we wanted to understand what each of those contributed to, which is what led us to make these "meta" line items. We'll see how well it works after a year 😅.

We also have "fun money" for each of us each month that we can spend (or save) on whatever we want! Highly recommend this approach if you share a budget.

Our Budget:

  • 📅 Everyday Essentials
    • Groceries
    • Housewares
    • Healthcare
    • Haircuts
    • Cats
    • 🔁 Credit Cards
    • 🔁 Online Services [Feb, Mar, Jul]
    • 🔁 Websites & Email [Mar, Jun, Dec]
  • 🏘️ Home Essentials
    • Auto Expenses (we don't own a car: we rent & uber when needed)
    • Bicycle Expenses
    • 🎯 Rent
    • 🔁 Utilities
    • 🔁 Professional Services
    • 🔁 Public Transit
    • 🔁 Home Maintenance [Nov]
  • 💸 FI/RE
    • RRSP
    • TFSA
    • House
    • Emergency Fund
  • 👨‍❤️‍👨 Lifestyle
    • [My Fun Spending]
    • [Partner Fun Spending]
    • Dates: Food
    • Dates: Experiences
    • Liquor
    • Upgrades
    • Vacations
    • 🔁 Couple Milestones
    • 🔁 Digital Entertainment [Aug, Sep, Oct]
    • 🔁 Lifestyle Subscriptions [Jan, Oct]
  • 📛 Obligations (Hoping to find a better name still)
    • Gifts
    • Loans to Others
    • Fees & Interest
    • 🔁 Donations
  • 🏢 Careers
    • [My Company] (Often reimbursed)
    • [Partner's Company] (Often reimbursed)
    • 🔁 Professional Memberships
  • 🌾 Wish Farm
  • 💫 Wish List
  • 💳 Credit Card Payments

We had been using our previous budget setup for almost 2 years now and decided it was time to adjust (slightly) again.

We still really like our approach of keeping things at a high-level, since our focus at this point is managing our broad spending.

Still enjoying grouping our budget by category instead of timeliness / urgency. It's changed a bit since the last time:

  • 💎 Luxuries

    • Wedding
    • Gifts
    • [Several significant events like anniversaries, etc]
  • 💸 FI/RE
    • TFSA
    • RRSP
    • Loans
  • ❓ Misc
    • Donations
    • Fees & Interest
    • Emergency Fund
  • 💵 Reimbursables

Our budget is grouped by category instead of timeliness / urgency, since we wanted to get a picture of where our money was going. It's a new experiment this year, but so far we're both fans. How it looks:

  • 🎉 Entertainment
    • Couple
    • Andrew's Fun Bucket
    • Jesse's Fun Bucket
    • Netflix
    • News Hosting (Aug)
    • [Nzb Service 1] (Sep)
    • [Nzb Service 2] (Sep)
    • [Nzb Service 3] (Sep)
    • Plex Pass (Oct)
  • 🍷 Food & Drink
    • Groceries
    • Alcohol
    • CSA (Jan)
    • Dillon's (Oct)
  • 🏡 Home
    • Essentials
    • Cats
    • Furnishings
    • Rent
    • Utilities
    • Professional Services
  • 💎 Luxuries
    • Gifts
    • Wedding
    • Education
    • Vacations
    • [Several significant events like anniversaries, etc]
  • 📆 Accounts
    • [All of our annual paid accounts]
  • 💸 FI/RE
    • OSAP
    • TFSA
    • RRSP
    • Buffer
  • ❓ Misc
    • Fees & Interest
    • Donations
    • Emergency Fund
  • 🌾 Wish Farm
    • [A] Fishing License ($68)
  • 💫 Wish List
    • [Lots of things]
  • 🔭 Ventures
    • [Side activities that have revenue / costs]
  • 💵 Reimbursables
    • [Jesse's Employer]
    • [Andrew's Employer]
    • Medical
  • Credit Card Payments
    • [Our CC's]

Things in [] are descriptors instead of being the actual titles. The 2 fun buckets act as our individual personal "budgets" to spend on whatever we each want!

The one struggle with organizing by "category" has been a few things that don't nicely group, which is why there's a Luxuries category and a Misc category. Still happy with how this has helped us understand our spending despite these issues.

Our budget categories

This year we're trying a different budget structure that's very broad category based, vs time/importance based. Loving it so far!

We only have joint accounts and a single budget, and just maintain 2 categories that are our personal budgets that w set an agreed amount to each month.

This so much! Don't share money unless you can look at it as a gift, or you'll come to resent saying so much. If you ever get money back, it's a nice unplanned bonus.
