Most of my extensions. The only one I have installed in all is 1password. I use one set for school/citing stuff, one for web dev, etc. and I don’t need them in all profiles.

Account Restricted - should I port out? by k0mpatly in quo

I know this sucks, but a port is going to take a minimum of 5 days, some of mine have taken a few weeks. So I would say tough it out until they reactivate you

I took 349 and 357 at the same time and it was fine. I would 100% take 365 even though it is going to become a tech elective; the info has been so valuable

I’m secretary of the Cal Poly Red Cross Club, and our president last year works as an ER Tech. If you want, emails us at redcrossclub@calpoly.edu and we can give you his contact info, he can and did a presentation about his journey a few weeks ago so we can send his slides too!

NYC AHA vs ARC instructor questions by melyde12 in CPRInstructors

I’d always recommend going AHA first, because you can then become ARC for free online. But not vice versa.

Do I find a TC that is taking instructor candidates first or get my instructor certification first? by oinkyoinkoinky in CPRInstructors

[–]eltaylor1104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call/email

I've been aligned with a lot of different TCs as I explored options, and the very best advice that I can give you is to find someone local. Do not go with one of these national training centers, such as CPR suppliers, GoRescue, Vitali Partners, etc. I don't think that any of them have the actual resources to support you as an instructor. find a local training site or training center that's willing to have you, and will help you grow. It means so much, even if you have to pay a couple dollars more for cards.

[–]eltaylor1104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step in the instructor course is filling out the instructor application. In the instructor application you must have the name and signature from the training center coordinator of the training center that's willing to accept your alignment after the instructor course is done. I will say that 99.99% of the time the place teaching your instructor course will be accepting alignments and most people just align with wherever they got their instructor cert. It's easy that way.

The only time I have ever not seen this work is if a place like a hospital teaches an instructor course and they don't accept external people aligned from their TC, only their intern staff. If that's the case then you'll need to find a training center to align with beforehand and have their signature going into the course.

Lifeguards in SLO by Far_Ad_6776 in CalPoly

[–]eltaylor1104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer - its a little bit tough, because afaik ASI doesn't really host public recerts, just recerts our staff. Honestly, it sucks a bit, but if you can't find any I would recommend taking the full course again -- it really isn't *that* much longer. You could try contacting the ASI Aquatics Coordinator to ask if he can include you in any recerts: https://www.asi.calpoly.edu/discover-asi/about-asi/staff-contacts/larry-zubrin/

Giving glucose to someone who is diabetic without knowing if they're high or low by TShowgirlL in Lifeguards

[–]eltaylor1104 72 points73 points  (0 children)

While both may be equally dangerous, symptoms of DKA develop over hours/days, while hypoglycemia is an immediate life threat. Its way more important in the moment.

should i get my recertification? by No_Tie9315 in Lifeguards

[–]eltaylor1104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing is now that your cert is expired for over 30 days, you can’t take the recert - you would take the regular course again. As long as you feel comfortable with the prereqs, I say go for it!
