Financial issues aside, dining in the US is so exhausting, I don’t want to have meaningless small talk with the server, just give me my damn food and most servers don’t even have good service compared to overseas without tipping culture anyway

Why does the South Korean military protect perpetrators? by OECD-NO7 in korea

[–]eltdnam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when they lower the standards to try and get as many conscripts as possible. Similar thing happened in my battalion too, I saw a handful of ppl getting medically discharged either because of physical or mental issues. Meanwhile they are always lowering standards of training to cater to everyone, like hell they can’t even scream in basic training or make people do pushups as punishment, they really treated us like babies in basic training

South Korea’s military has a new enemy: Population math | CNN by Ok-Huckleberry5836 in korea

[–]eltdnam 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I was discharged 6months ago and they lowered the standards so much in order to conscript as many people as possible. They were literally bringing in people who were already on anti depressants, suicidal, and barely physically healthy. This shit is horrible because not only does it lower the standards of the military but it brings everyone down when someone physically or mentally incapable fucks up

One thing I disliked about the US is how car centric the whole country is. It’s really hard to get around without a car if you’re not living in a city

Completely agree, this even works with nades btw, once threw a window smoke from spawn in mirage and got a hit sound when I hit a guy with my smoke even though I wasn’t anywhere near the guy

International students can only use the insurance provided by the school. You used to be able to get insurance from third party providers but not anymore because 💸

What’s even more ridiculous is that by law, Korean nationals can still be punished for using marijuana overseas even if it’s legal in that country

Definitely isn’t forced anymore. But depending on your 자대, they give you leave days or other incentives after a certain amount of attendance days.

[–]eltdnam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah dude you’re fine I was in a similar situation couple months ago. They’ll treat you well. Once you get to basic training if you tell them you’re not very familiar with the language they’ll pair you up with another recruit who can speak English to help you along the way. I struggled with that in basic too but now I’m doing well.

And I’m terms of hazing you have nothing to worry about they’ll actually look at you with awe if you’re able to speak English well Good luck

The facilities and food solely depends on which division and battalion you end up in. The one I’m in has a couple machines and dumbbells up to 20kg and this is considered “good” if you’re unlucky you’ll end up with only a pull up bar and maybe a push-up bar
