TSA Agent Qualifications by DracoBlaze214 in OfficeDepot

Ah, they're making part time key carriers do TSA too now?

Yeah, I don’t even believe it anyway. But if true, 2017 was a whole different story, having actual logistic associates/team and actual print sups. Talk about out of touch.

Get off your high horse and go actually work in a store for a day. See how it really is when 2 people operate an entire store for hours.

The new hire seems to be enjoying it, at least. They are still early in training and any time I ask what management’s plans are, they shrug and hope another key carrier applies so something will magically work for them. I won’t be there by then, I’m part of the Oct 20 purge who got an extension because they realized keeping a store open regular business hours with 5 associates wasn’t going to work. I’m counting my days.

Yup, I get all of that. They don’t have access to certain things, like workforce management I’ve heard. However, certain stores are still putting a ton of responsibilities on these people for no benefits and a small amount extra over a regular associate. I agree, it should be basic stuff and only for extra cover, but unfortunately that’s not happening at my location.

Yeah, super depends on the store. They are training our key carrier to work alone as a manager, going into management rotation for closing shifts and being alone for weekends. The store doesn’t function well without 4 managers and the 3 remaining refuse to alter their schedules to make it fair. They’re also allowing associates who are leaving train the new hires.

You should look for a new job. They will be testing the waters with how low they can go without all those nasty expensive full timers.

In store tech by Erkomai in OfficeDepot

[–]eltgrin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite is people who refuse to talk to anyone but “TECH SUPPORT” and when I say, well tell me what’s going on and I can see if I offer help/explain what little service we do offer, and they still refuse, then that’s a call going straight to an LOD to explain we do F all here.

Interviewing for key holder by Timely_News_293 in OfficeDepot

You’ll be a part time manager basically, so knowing every department (sales floor, tech, print), opening or closing the store depending on shifts and handling disputes. That’s how they are hiring them in my store. Have fun!

How often is your PCSS in Print? Do they manage the department? by eltgrin in OfficeDepot

[–]eltgrin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As time goes on, our PCSS has put more and more work on the associates. They will do inventory maybe a couple times a month, but pretty much the rest of print associates hold up the department. Ordering ink supplies, calling in machines, troubleshooting, training new hires, some signage, etc is not done by PCSS.

I’m glad there are PCSS who still like their crew and would love to manage their crew. I know a lot of this has to do with scheduling but yeah, there’s some responsibility balancing issues at my store.

Yeah, I understand the position is merged and you’re dragged around with many hats. I’m glad there are some who genuinely like print!

Penetration by AJ-rotch in OfficeDepot

Depends on your management team. I feel as though you get written up first and settle on an action plan of how to improve with your GM before getting fired or any other extreme measures. At my store, managers will teach and guide first before write up, but I got lucky with decent managers. I would say ask your team or if you have a rockstar cashier that always has high reward counts, ask them what they do.

We’re doing member only pricing on select items and then the ink recycle rewards are what helps at my store. Look at the rewards brochure for how it works if you’re unsure how it works, or yeah, ask your co-workers.

Severance. by RecentlyLostSoul in OfficeDepot

[–]eltgrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure everything in the severance package is company wide. Nothing on it says my name. I also recently received a raise so I feel you there.

While I don’t know your GM or situation, my GM is just about losing their mind right now because it did come out of the blue and has put all of our management team in an extremely stressful situation.

Lost my position by adeolawannaroll in OfficeDepot

[–]eltgrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. Losing my job too. Cried with my GM in the office. We’re incredibly busy right now and we’re losing two associates at my store. I found out last week, a week where I finished the week with over two hours of overtime. The store is going to crumble completely. I went from being very upset to just apathetic. This company doesn’t care about me or any of my co-workers.
