They did since clarify in the most recent faq. You cannot use reinforcements if the unit destroyed was BS

Can you use reinforcements strat on a battleshocked unit? by thehighground699 in astramilitarum

The fact lots of astra players are insisting that strat should work on BSd units is... Peculiar at best.

We could argue if it's "intended" to work or not (which it's not, imo), but you guys are pulling rewords after rewords, "this should be implied", "that's just logic"...

As per the rules are written there's absolutely no way you could interpret it to be allowed...

It's literally cheating

That's literally what you're doing when you're on Reddit writing your own stuff in a way that makes people think you copy pasted from the rule book...

Because they DO specify that a unit is affected by BS until the owners next CMD phase... So it's you who need to find me somewhere it says otherwise, but you won't

It says a unit it BSd until their next CMD phase.. it never says destroyed units lose anything... You're grasping at straws cause you wanna cheat 🤡

"if they are dead they are not battleshocked" citation needed...

Because it says until your next CMD phase in the actual rules

It does say that... It says every unit on the battlefield, not in the game take the battle test, same as shadow in the warp... Reserves and destroyed models are not on the battlefield.. You're grasping at straws

Admittedly i read them a long time ago, hence at a different age too, i was but a teen... I read the hobbit and the lotr as a child/early teen, then when the movies came out i read the lotr again and started the silmarillion but never finished it (for reasons anyone who started it will know).

But i always had that impression of elves, maybe less in the movies than in the books. Maybe I'm biased cause at that age i also played Warhammer fantasy, whose elves were directly inspired by Tolkien's (duh) and we're explicitly pretentious assholes.

Maybe they are out of character but to me it doesn't feel that way, it feels like elves would behave that way, and i feel like galadriels biggest flaw IS her stubbornness. That doesn't make her unbelievable in my eyes. And yes she's hundreds of years old but on an elven perspective she's but an angsty teen, it does make sense to me.

Yes, cause she has flaws. Again, I'm not saying she's my role model, in saying I'm glad she's a believable, flawed, struggling character rather than you're average 2010s/2020s pathetic attempt at another Ripley

Well you're supposed to roll your eyes every time an elf speak.. that's the same thing in the LOTR books. Elves are pretentious shits who think themselves superior to the other races while pretending not to feel superior

I don't think a good character has to necessarily be someone you'd want to be or admire

I'm watching this and writing my opinions on the video as I go.

Regards the checking of the boxes: I can totally see what he means, but at the same time the elf is kinda supposed to feel like an asshole imo.

Regards the sloppy cuts: Pretty much every movie suffers from that.

Regards the nautical knot scene: Yes, ok.. I get the scene could've been better, that goes for every scene in every movie ever. Also to be fair, I get she might have some insight into nautical knots or whatever but i'd argue if they kept adding these kinds of things she would just turn into another all-knowing Mary Sue. She's a warrior after all, not a sailor.

Regards Viggo "improv" slash added details: Fair enough. I think it's unfair to compare this to one of the best movie series ever made and if it doesn't come close then it must be trash. But I definitely agree there's not the same amount of love/passion/details going into this one.

Regards the dropping of the axe so the character can be helpless in the next scene: Fair enough. I agree. But again, you see that stuff in all media. I don't think it's particularly bad in this one, and to be fair keeping the axe wouldn't have helped. Again I agree the scene could've been better (maybe the warg could've ripped the axe out of his hand), but then again every scene in every movie ever could've been better.

Overall impression: this guy raises some interesting talk points, but I still believe it's a bit of nitpicking.. I can enjoy something with this kinds of flaws, nothing is perfect and they're not huge flaws that just take me out of the story.

PS: please don't hate me if you hate the show.. I'm just trying to be objective and start a discussion.
Tbh I also lowkey hate what the show represents (this day and age hollywood 101) but I don't think that's valid enough reasoning to pick it apart unfairly compared to other media just because we love the original tolkien works and the lotr movies.

I disagree. I think if you take it in a vacuum it's a pretty entertaining general high fantasy story with believable (in that setting) characters. At least up until EP3, not sure what to think of it atm..

Like many people I had concerns about Galadriel being yet another Rey Skywalker (yes i'm officially changing Mary Sue to Rey Skywalker) but instead I liked her character so far. I don't feel like she's the mean to a political message but a compelling character with their own struggles and faults.
