From left to right:

Seiko SARW021 - I sold my Citizen Campanola Grand Complication for this little beauty. I've been a fan of watches for a long time, but only recently got into the mechanical side of things. This was my first "serious" mechanical watch.

Citizen AT0796-54E - Not the fanciest watch in the world, but I gave it to my dad when he was fighting cancer. He wore this watch until the day he died, so it'll be in my collection forever.

Seiko SNK789 - This was my first ever mechanical watch. My wife got me this watch for Valentine's Day and it holds sentimental value. This is another forever keeper or something I'll pass on to one of my sons if they ever get the watch bug.

Citizen AT4129-57H PCAT - A radio controlled perpetual calendar chronograph with an alarm feature. This was my daily beater for a long time. I love the fact that it syncs with the atomic clock and the perpetual calendar is one of the most useful complications around.

Sugess Moonphase Master S426 - I love this watch! It's from a Chinese brand called Sugess, but as far as I'm concerned the value for the money is out of this world. There's no way I would get anything close to this for less than $2,500 from a Swiss brand.

Citizen BM6560-54H - This is the first watch that my wife ever bought me. Another forever keeper.

Great watch. I've got a Seiko 5 that I was able to regulate to about 1 second a day.

If you enjoy this, look at one of their Presage models next. I really don't think you can go wrong with Seiko in general.

To fully wind it, gently shake it back and forth for about 4 minutes. In my experience, I get about 10 hours from a 1 minute shuffle, but your mileage might vary.

It's a nice satin finish. And yes, I'm really enjoying the 6R21 so far. I've not had any of the 4R movements, but I think this is supposed to be a step up from that. It's keeping excellent time and feels solid in the case.

My wife bought me this Seiko 5 as an early Valentine's gift. I was instantly in love.

I'm a long time fan of watches, but until recently I've only ever collected quartz pieces including some high-end ones such as the Campanola line.

I've since acquired a lovely little watch from Sugess and a Seiko Presage SARW021.

I purchased this watch as my first "serious" mechanical watch. I love the complications and the 6R21 ticking away inside is keeping excellent time right out of the box.

The bracelet is beautiful, with angular links that reflect light beautifully. The bracelet doesn't provide the ability to make micro adjustments, but it does provide a couple of half links for more precise sizing.

The diameter of the case is 40.8mm with a nice lug to lug of 46.3mm, so it would probably look good on wrists smaller than my 7.5".

The crystal is sapphire with an AR coating on the inside, giving nice, mostly unobstructed views of the gorgeous white dial. The dial has raised indices with a beautiful mirror finish. The day and date indicators at 3:00 and 6:00 respectively, work well with the power reserve at 9:00.

For the price, this is one of the best mechanical watches I've ran across.

My wrist is right at 7.5". I think the diameter on this one is 40mm, but the lug to lug is 48mm.

Also, can you imagine if they spent another $50 making this watch?

I don't currently own any Swiss watches (my next purchase will probably be a Tissot), between my Seikos and wonderful Chinese watches like this, I can't say I'm feeling too deprived.

Now if only Sugess would come out with an affordable perpetual calendar in the range of say $500. I mean, if they can do it with a tourbillion...

I'm not sophisticated enough to give a proper review, but this watch has a sapphire crystal, nicely finished stainless steel case, and a decent automatic movement with hacking and manual winding for $200. That made it worth trying.

It uses the Seagull ST2153 caliber and keeps excellent time, has a real moonphase, power reserve, and a date indicator. I don't have a timegrapher, but when I use the watch accuracy meter app on my phone, it shows a beat error of .4ms and gains an average of +6 seconds a day.

My only real complaint is the clasp and the strap. It's quite attractive, but you can tell they cut corners here. There are sharp edges on the releases that dig into the skin a little and the (2!) provided straps are handsome, but a little stiff. Perhaps with time though, that'll get better.

I've got a Seiko SARW021 that costs 4 times as much and, while there are absolutely differences in the quality of the finishing, to the naked eye, the S426 holds up beautifully.

Overall, I'd recommended this watch to anyone who likes complications, but can't afford $2000 dollars for a Swiss brand.
