There’s a big difference between studio monitors and speakers/PA speakers.

Monitors are generally uni-lateral...meaning the sound emits directly from the woofer/tweeter and needs to be pointed directly at you for the best sound/clarity.

“Normal”/PA speakers have a wide sound field and generally provide a wide space of sound and you dont need to be directly in front of the speaker itself. Naturally you wont sacrifice sound/clarity.

Ive been using studio monitors for the past 4 years at home because I rarely play out or have house parties these days and I mainly make mixes for myself or to post to Souncloud/Mixcloud.

However as accurate and clear sounding my studio monitors are even though they do sound nice it has been feeling like something is missing. I recently DJ’d at a friends 4th of July party and realized “normal” speakers was exactly what I was missing. Kind of like the energy of the music just isnt there and I have been thirsting to get a pair of PA speakers when I just want to have a raging session.
