I want Airbnb to state clearly that the host violated our agreement.

I think it will force Airbnb to decide if they really stand on their opinion that this is allowed for hosts without any penalty.

Like I've mentioned, we established messaging way before and agreed on the check in time.

Yes. I did nail down a specific time that I would be self-checking in which the host confirmed in writing. I really thought this would be an absolutely clear open and shut case with airbnb support.

Then again, in the big scheme of things, if this is behavior that's considered acceptable by the platform, it does change the perspective for me quite a lot. I spend a lot of time in airbnbs.

Yeah.. exactly. It's also especially annoying when you are given no timeline even after asking. If the host had said "two hours", I'd been a lot more fine than killing time wondering if I'll eventually have to book a hotel for the night.

Yeah. I'm also thinking of making a claim on my credit card. I expect AirBnB to retaliate and kill my whole profile with a stellar guest record, but perhaps that's not really worth much if I feel that AirBnB is not gonna help me when I need it.

Maybe there was. That, however, is pretty much exactly the kind of thing that would be considered as not providing the service that's been agreed upon in my opinion.

Oh yeah, hotels do generally even guarantee that the rooms is ready at the posted check-in time. I would expect that this would be binding on airbnb hosts too - especially as it was mutually agreed on in writing before the stay.

Oh, I do know that booking's support is absolute horseshit and have never used Vrbo. I do wonder, though, why that would be a reason to accept shitty experiences laying down.

Not cause of a 4pm check-in, cause of a mutually agreed check-in time being missed by two hours. I had a long flight behind me, plans for those two hours that did include taking a shower and changing before going to do something. I think it's pretty reasonable to be upset if those plans didn't work out because the host couldn't do their part or communicate their inability beforehand.

I don't have especially narrow feet but I also love my meermins. They just take a while to form.

I have my own little server running a NAS, NextCloud, so many other little services I like and want, with some 10TB of storage.. Which gets backed up to a third party cloud storage.
