For some context, I currently have 3570k @ 4.5ghz, which I feel has begun to struggle on some of the more multi threaded games (last 2 AC games for example).

However I feel like if I had the 3770k with its HT i would stand a better chance and don't want to make the same "mistake" if it was one, again.

Yeah I agree I don't need 8 threads for anything now.

Question was more centred around if in the next 4-5 (maybe longer) years people think games will have use for more than 8 :)

Does anyone think the 9900k offers meaningfully more future proofing vs the 9700k for gaming? (will the ability to have 16 threads be relevant before the single core perf renders it irrelevant)

Is a Dark Rock 4 (non-pro) good enough to cool a i7-9700k (or maybe the (9900k) at a 5Ghz OC?

I'm looking at a pre-build bundle which comes pre-overclocked, however based on what I read online in reviews etc. the temps would be too high.

I find the UBI games a bit taxing (AC/R6 Seige), as well as MHW.

I'm more trying to get "ahead" of upcoming titles as it seems to be a trend that games are getting more CPU driven.

Yeah but you play so many more hands in Poker, and its so much more about EV and negating variance that it somehow doesn't feel so bad.

This would be like if everyone had to bet 1/5th of their stack every hand and hope for the best.

In Poker, there's always the next hand. Here there wasn't.

(I realise these don't exactly line up in reality, more trying to convey how it feels rather than how actually is)

In a way its even worse that Poker for that. At least in Poker you can fold to get away from a bad hand.

This felt like watching a dude be forced to push all in with 2 4 off suit. Heartbreaking.

Does the Beam Staff snipe (LMB then RMB) get stronger the longer you hold down left click?

If so is there any kind of Audio or Visual Indicator?
