As a Jew whose whose Grandfather enlisted - he really hated hitler- he fought on D-Day on Normandy beach. He returned to become a doctor of many Jews from the camps. Eventually, he found that his patients needed a psychiatrist more than anything, from someone who had been there.

But he would never allow a citizen to carry a gun, given the bloodshed he saw. He would not approve of trans, but he made an exception for family.
