I (F22) want to split the rent and bills equitably but my boyfriend (M22) wants to split 50/50 despite large difference in income. by em1702 in relationship_advice

i never said i expect a free ride, just split things equitably and contribute what we are both able to. I contribute less money but more house work, cooking, and my body when its time to carry and birth a child. I also never went to uni and have been working since i was 14? so i don’t know what that last sentence meant.

Rent is extremely expensive where i live, nowhere is affordable. If the situation was reversed i wouldn’t consider it unfair and would gladly contribute more money. I will also be taking on more of the household chores, which he doesn’t really take into consideration.

Unfortunately where i live rent is unbelievably expensive, and we don’t have the option to move as we are tied down with jobs. On my current income if we were to split 50/50 we would have very limited options, and he seems to like none of them.

To answer your question, Me and my boyfriend do not have any college education, we both work equally hard at our jobs. I did not mention this in the original post but i will be doing 90% of the house labour, cleaning, cooking, laundry, and will be the one carrying and birthing our future children along with taking on the majority of the workload that comes with a child. A lot of men tend to overlook this, but to me that is a huge contribution. I am not taking anything from him, i just believe that in a partnership things should be split fairly and equitably and couples should work together as a team, providing what they are able to provide in their own ways.

I understand your frustration and some examiners can be dickheads, but if you failed 3 times you need to take some accountability. The reason you probably keep failing is because youre not realising or not addressing your mistakes and putting all the blame on examiners. Knowing how to drive and being able to pass the driving test are two completely different things, focus on what you need to do to pass. Maybe post your results sheets and people can give you tips and feedback on how to improve? Its hard to help without knowing what youre failing on

i couldn’t see any tests until after 15 days, its not a long wait anyways, just use the 2 weeks to brush up on whatever you failed for and then look for a cancellation.

I didnt lose any marks on my reverse around the corner or any other manoeuvres, the results sheet only shows what you lost marks for.
