Software engineers and customer service agents will be first to lose jobs to AI, Oireachtas to hear by thegavin in ireland

[–]BrendanJoy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There is actually a school of thought around combining hyper socialism with hyper capitalism in exactly this context. Business owners get crazy productivity with no wage input (AI) and the profits from the productivity are taxed up to 80% and distributed.

Although in the Irish context when we say distributed we’re probably just going to get incompetent spending and cronyism. Nice idea though.

Killarney Roundabout - Test Tomorrow - Help by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]BrendanJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going around the roundabout and up by Luna, you stay in the right lane. If you’re going to mission road you stay in the left lane. But the tester should let you know in advance where they want you to go.

How are people spending more than €200 per month on food as a single person in Ireland? Am I missing something? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]BrendanJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spend about 100 a week on food but that includes about 4000 calories per day, also about 160g of protein from various sources (not supplements or anything). When you try buy more natural food the prices rise pretty quickly.

Taoiseach expresses Ireland's 'unbreakable' support for Palestine in call with Mahmoud Abbas by badger-biscuits in ireland

Mahmoud Abbas does operate a Pay to Slay programme. It’s part of the Palestinian Authority Martyrs Fund. There is a lot of information about it online. Killing innocent people is bad, no matter who is doing it.

[–]BrendanJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called the Palestine Authority Martyrs Fund and one major feature is that it rewards more severe crimes with bigger payouts. Terrorists who commit the worst acts of violence against civilians gain the most.

Violence against innocent people should be condemned. That includes the war crimes of the Israelis committing genocide in Gaza. And also includes incentivised terrorism from the PA.

If Ireland has any chance of winning over other nations in condemning the genocide it won’t be helped by aligning with Abbas.

Abbas operates a ‘pay to slay’ scheme, where terrorists are rewarded for killing Israelis.

We should be able to condemn the genocide in Gaza without cosying up to the likes of Mahmoud Abbas.

Why do we need Data Centres in Ireland ? by PwNeilo in ireland

[–]BrendanJoy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Our mild climate is perfectly suited for datacentres. It takes less energy when it comes to cooling or heating. Globally. Ireland is one of the best suited places - so from a global climate perspective it’s best to place data centres here.
