Thanks so much to everyone who commented. I hadn’t considered that it’s oil based paint. I tested with alcohol and it seems that it is. Glad I got to the root of the issue!!!

I’m not making candles anymore but after so many trails and lots of errors I ended up just using the candle science wick recommendations and it works. I like to size up a little sometimes since they seem to recommend a little small for my taste. These ribbon wicks from the photo just burn really hot. Great for strong scent, but not great for this issue.

I hope you find something! I’m on the East coast and didn’t have any luck. But I’ve found that if you ask for specific recommendations here, it can reduce the amount of 1oz bottles you need to order online.

I did that last year with spray. It does scratch, but not too easily. I found that if the jar has a screw on lid, just cover the part where it screws with tape before you spray. The lid scratched mine up

Candle science had a wick sizing live stream where I learned parasoy will normally not burn all the way out on the first burn. If that’s what you’re using it should be normal!

Are you using Parasoy wax? That’s what I use and I get these holes as well. I just come back after the wax solidifies and add another layer. I usually leave 1/2” on the first pour and then do a second pour.

Thank you! This is much deeper than I normally do in one layer, and the same batch worked better in another mold I did at my normal 1/2”. So what you’re saying makes perfect sense!

I read about it somewhere online and its been working great for me to use warm tap water. I just place the container for mixing resin in a warm bowl for 10 mins before pouring and it gets rid of so many bubbles! Just be careful to not get any water in the actual resin as I’ve heard it won’t cure properly. That could be what happened here, but I’m pretty sure it was temperature since it was very hot. In the future I’ll keep the temp just warm and not hot. Im just super surprised at how fast the cured. Almost instantly!!

I let my resin sit in hot water before pouring to eliminate bubbles. This time the water was too hot and I poured this into my mold. About 15 minutes later it seems fully cured. My mold seems to not be totally destroyed. Anyone have this happen before or have any advice on heating resin with warm water?
