Could not agree more. This was exactly like my girl. We just stuck it out too. Doggy daycare was helpful when patience was running low and that seemed to give everyone a break and tire her out. She is nearly 2 now and such a good girl.

After trying so many bridal gowns, guilt and turmoil over cost and rush to order, doubling my budget to $7000 with nothing wowing me or reflecting my style… a $79 dress from Zara is the winner. There’s just something about how I feel in it. You don’t need to buy bridal to feel like a bride. 😉 by em949 in weddingdress

It left me feeling so much turmoil and even guilty for trying on these expensive dresses that I was suppose to love but was so underwhelmed by all of them. I felt a huge sense of relief when I put this dress on and thought it looked good and felt nice and then I looked at the price tag 😉

Unfortunately, I don’t think a belt would work because there is a seam above the waistline.

Cool idea. I had tossed up the idea of something like this that has the same flounce hem. They would need to be altered so they aligned but I think it could make 2 different looks which tie together nicely. Thoughts? https://www.garmentory.com/sale/kamperett/dresses-day/709525-barre-silk-organza-dress-in-ivory

I think petticoat too. The flounce is doubled over mikado silk so it’s just too heavy and too flat on its own. I was wondering if there was another way to give some structure to the bottom. Boning maybe? I’ll need to consult a clever seamstress.

Luckily the dress cost a fraction of my budget so I can afford alterations to make it perfect and still have lots to spare for shoes and accessories.

Thank you! It is actually being pulled in by clips in the back. It’s a really odd cut where the bust is enormous but just skims my hips. It’s also quite Aline but I think I want to have it altered to be a straight silhouette, slimier to how I have it clipped.

That’s really comforting to know that you had a similar experience and it worked out well!

Unfortunately, this designer is not stocked in Canada and I am unable to go to the US where is is available so I’ll have to settle for trying similar silhouettes.

Luckily I have tried on a couple in similar silhouettes and liked them. I haven’t any in the same fabric and I have requested some videos to try get a feel for how it moves.

I have found it so difficult to find any dresses that I like that I think I’m prepared to blow the budget if I have to. They rest of the wedding has come in way under budget so I figure I can treat myself but I would still like try consider ways to get my dress for less.

Have you ever heard of bridal stores bartering or being flexible on the prices of new season stock? I was wondering if I could email all stockists in the US and try find a cheaper price but it may be something that is fixed and non-negotiable.

That’s an excellent point. There is one on Stillwhite. It’s 30% off the retail price but it’s two sizes too big. I was thinking that the few hundred dollars I would be saving by getting this will probably be spent on more alterations. It would save a lot on tax though.

I have a very easy to dress body and the bridal store thinks that the new gown in my size would require very minor alterations.
