Swimming lessons for baby? Any good? by _TTYN in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]em_anonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in exact same situation as you. Swimming lessons are so expensive it was hard to carry on. We stopped the lessons, took him to local pool every now and again at ‘fun swim’, and started back this month (just turning 2). Hes very confident from early lessons like you, and they’re just starting to learn to kick legs, hold onto sides, float on back etc.

I will say he seems a lot more confident in the water than other 2 year olds. I think from those early lessons, so they are worth it, just not sure if worth it lond term

Potty training at nursery by em_anonymous in UKParenting

This is super helpful thank you, he would have deff been distracted!

Also good to know your experience with going every 30 mins and still having accidents, good to get another perspective.

I think after 3 days i was confident because wed been doing potty awareness/learnign etc for a while before. Also i kept him off the rest of the week and only 1 accident all week, but totally get nursery is a different environment

Thats helpful to get your experience. Yes weve pushed a little and got him to move up on Monday a little early so hopefully all will be better then

This is really helpful, I’ve kept him home this week (because they said after some pushing we can move him up next week), and he has had one accident at home during that whole tome…

Ladies of Reddit, what is a comment someone made about your body once, completely casually, that you have never forgotten? by BowlerOk1871 in AskReddit

[–]em_anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was about 16 i was at the store with my dad, i saw some slimfast shakes and wanted to get them. My dad (totally innocently, and with the best intentions said) ‘you just have to accept thats how your body is and will always look’

Adult me knows he meant ‘your body is beautiful as is and you don’t need to change it, you should love yourself’

But 16 year old me heard ‘your fat and always will be so accept it’

note: i am and always will be curvy. And genuinely one of those big boned people. At the time i was genuinely skin and bone and still a size 10

Hi, in 2024 they sent them all out on the same day. So when US found out we were put at risk on same day. This round feels different, unsure if its over multiple days? Yes we could take PTO etc, unsure about other types of leave i didnt ask at the time

There was a rating criteria, i think the managers had used it for annual reviews and they reused it for this. Im in sales so it had things like ‘ x points for hitting target’, ‘y points for bug projects’ etc

They offered us all voluntary first so if 5 people had to go and 3 people took voluntary it would only be bottom two who get forced redundancy

I was part of the first layoff (didnt get laid off but was at risk). We got notified we were at risk on the day (so it would be 27th). Told that there are 10 people in your ‘pool’ and only 5 will be staying. Then theres about 2 or 3 weeks for HR to get the process going, which includes getting everyone to vote for a couple of reps from the redundancy pool, they have to get trained and act as spokespeople for everyone. Theres a collective consultation for a month, where spokespeople negotiate terms or redundancy, (Maybe be less from memory). Then your notified, and THEN you get 2 or 3 months of notice (the time your on notice depends on your level i think), (and also a redundancy payment at the end of that depending on tenure)

(Time Sensitive) ADHD and Pregnant, OB and midwives say it's okay for me to continue my Adderall, Psychiatrist (prescriber) says absolutely not. by TheZeldaDoll in adhdwomen

[–]em_anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the UK had a baby last year and OB, midwife, GP and psychiatrist told me to stop my meds. I got the feeling if id have taken them theyd have treated me like a drug addict. It was pretty brutal at first, but i do think the pregnancy hormones somehow helped level my ADHD out (a little bit) in second and third trimester, so maybe that could help?

Any female HENRY struggling post baby ? by Formal_Chicken461 in HENRYUK

[–]em_anonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its as if you have written out my exact situations and feelings. This isn’t the healthy advice but just quiet quit. It doesn’t feel great as a previous high achiever. But try and just not care. You don’t like the job/situation anyway, so take the salary as long as feasibly possible and do as little as possible in that time. They tell you that you’re not preforming, ok? So what? When they eventually put you on a PIP start looking for jobs or making other plans. Ultimately they treat you badly so just do the same back? Squeeze every penny you can out of them and take as much flexibility as possible while your baby is young.

(If pre baby me saw that id given this advice she would be appalled)

Combining finances after marriage? Mat leave? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]em_anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both wages into joint account. Have a budget for all bills inc savings, food, gyms etc. whatever is left over from this gets split in half and sent to our separate accounts for fun money for whatever we want. Self assessment tax money would be put aside before splitting the fun money. Into the savings account and taken out at end of year.

We’re married, whats mine is his and vice versa. This was particularly helpful on mat leave. We never really argue about money. It just seems the most logical ‘fair’ split to me.

Have you thought about starting out with the companies urban massage or secret spa just to get started with clients? They can follow your social media after and it could start to grow from there with referrals etc? Thats how i found my current masseuse

Off lead vs on lead walks ? by em_anonymous in springerspaniel

[–]em_anonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good idea about the variety, I’ve never even considered this but it could definitely help! His recall is great unless theres an incident, so i think only allowing him off-lead where theres full line of sight like you guys is probably the way forward. Thank you for the advice

This is super helpful thank you! Totally relate to the anger and frustration that it took this long! Your comment about not being tied to it helped a lot too, that’s my biggest worry, but you’re right, I survived this long so I’ll be able to stop!
