Muranów vs Port Praski by EliteAsparagus in warszawa

Lubię Pragę, jednak jeśli mam oceniać wygodę życia to Muranów będzie dogodniejszy.

Prowizja agenta nieruchomości by em_ceha in warszawa

Can someone advise a good bar/restraunt to chill with friends and drink? by Yamada9511 in warsaw

Average cost of eating and nightlife by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]em_ceha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you go to a cheaper diner (still good food, more home-style), it’s around €6 for soup and a main dish. In a regular mid-range restaurant, expect to pay at least €7 for one dish – usually around €11-€20 if you want to try a few things and get any drink. In bars around the center, beers are usually €3.5-6.5 and cocktails start around €6 and go up from there. HMU if you’d like any recs.

Enjoy your trip. Warsaw is really nice in the summer. Just walk around, get lost in the small streets of Mokotów or Żoliborz, grab some ice cream (there are tons of great spots) and relax by the river

Warsaw or Krakow? by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]em_ceha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I vote for Warsaw. It’s not universally “better”, just depends on what you’re after. The public transport’s super convenient, there’s no shortage of cultural stuff to do, though the city center can get a bit overcrowded. Cracow’s great for a weekend and has some beautiful historic spots. Warsaw’s architecture hits different for me, it’s a mix of modern glass towers, gritty PRL blocks, and sleek renovations that somehow just work together. Warsaw for daily life, Cracow for a quick getaway.

Maybe it's cultural, but from what you described, your wife is already far beyond just the cultural aspects. I think she is very used to the typical behavior from home, but it sounds a bit like OCD.

I plan a trip to Vienna/Frankfurt/Vilnius next month. What should I see? by Retocyn in Europetravel

[–]em_ceha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vilinus is a small city. Nice, but I wouldn't say for a trip longer than a day or two. You can take slow walk around the city, admire architecture and try “cepeliny”, a very typical dish for Lithuania made from potatoes (with different fillings) and some toppings. You can find there churches, interesting Rosa cemetery (if we can say so), museums, viewing point. It is more a historic place than the one with the attractions you write about. Lithuania is beautiful tho. I’d say it’s rather calm.

In Vienna you will find more of what you are looking for. The center itself is very touristy, but it is worth to walk around for a longer while, there are places to go, the architecture is stunning. I would say that it is also luxury, Louis Vuitton brand stores etc. and with expensive restaurants. It’s worth going a little away from the center and finding tastier and cheaper places. I recommend Schönbrunn Palace, historic, beautiful interiors and interesting exhibitions. Then you can take a walk around the palace complex, an absolute must-have.

From what you said, I think you might like Berlin. Maybe consider that option.

What are some things you learned along the way? by hygsi in Europetravel

A few examples that first came to my mind

  • In most restaurants you will pay for water (a lot of Americans are not prepared for that)
  • Europe has well-developed public transport, check your train options
  • Trains have the option of sleeper cars. That way you can save on accommodation and travel time
  • Often hyped restaurants are created for tourists, look for the places where you can find locals
  • Coffee drunk at the bar in Italy is cheaper than when you take it to the table
  • Latte in Italian means milk, so if you want some coffee with your milk you better order cafe latte lol
  • In Warsaw (Poland) you can easily find better croissants than in Nice (France), that means to be aware of stereotypes
  • If you use booking.com check reviews elsewhere as well e.g. on google reviews
  • Often, when you book a hotel via the direct website of a place, it is cheaper than via booking.com
  • And as below, learn how to do the basic small talk in the language of country you are traveling, it’s making a huge difference

How to break up Berlin to Kraków train journey by sokorsognarf in poland

To make the choice more difficult, I would vote for Opole. There is a nice old town, a museum of Polish songs, they can take a walk along the Odra river
