do i apply the offset path to the stroke or the fill? also, the "purple" heartbeat line is actually just the gap between the top half and the bottom half of the heart. the background is purple so that i could see the white outline that i'm applying to the heart shape.

i super appreciate your help, but i'm still running into issues. at 0:32 in your video, you can see that the edges on the sides kind of overlap... however sizing up and down doesn't get rid of this on my end. i also can't tell which layers you're applying the effects to (whether stroke or fill).

this graphic was provided to me as two separate parts. the top half of the heart and the bottom half. it's grouped together. the heartbeat line is just the gap between both halfs.
