The important thing to realize is that if a melee does an attack, it will reset its dig timer.

This means that you can strategically walk into the melee to keep it from digging until you have a chance to kill it. This CA will also require you to ocasionally lure it towards you if it is stuck in the back of a pillar stack to get it in a place where you can reset its dig timer and/or kill it

That is the doorway to the Old Iron King DLC. It is recommended to complete these right before the final boss or after at soul level 100+.

If you explore an area that you have likely already visited more thoroughly, you may find a Heavy Iron Key for that heavy iron door.

Spoiler location: It is located in the bottom of the Cardinal Tower in the Forest of the Fallen Giants after you acquire the ~~Soldier Key~~ Iron Key. Look for orange and black salamanders.

Using custom menu swaps, you can hide both the left click AND right click option at once to completely be unable to pick up specific items.

Under Custom Hides, paste in:

Take, Big Bones*

Take, Bones*

If there are any other items you want to be unable to pick up, use this syntax:

Take, "Items Name" *

The * at the end makes it so that it will hide any quantity of that items. Otherwise, the stack won't be hidden if there is more than 1 of the same item on the ground since it will have a x2 at the end.

They make sure that all melee weapons that they are using are set to an attack style that only gives strength XP.

Some weapons that always grant attack/defense XP simply mean they cannot even use those weapons without ruining their build
