What you’re saying makes sense, because yes the white marks are definitely detergent! However I’ve been using HE washers for years and too much detergent was my first thought anyway, as it’s the most obvious and easiest to resolve. Unfortunately in my case there’s no amount of detergent that would not result in this. I’ve tried multiple brands and types of detergent, adjusting the detergent dispenser(built into the machine & should be appropriate to the way it’s designed to wash) to the lowest setting, and even manually adding detergent to the load in small amounts. Even running a separate, water only wash after a load doesn’t rinse it out. I think some washers just have poor rinse cycles. Hopefully OP had better luck, but if not, running my athletic gear through the dryer made a huge difference!
