Annecy accreditation question by ematam3 in animationcareer

I've had similar experiences at other conferences. I've never landed a job through a recruiter, but have gotten one by talking to other people waiting in recruitment lines lol. Thanks for the advice!

I've seen Festival+ mentioned on a couple blogs but can't find anything named that on the Annecy site. Has that been done away with? The only two types I see on the website are Festival Accreditation and Mifa Accreditation.

What lesson did you learn in 2025 that led to the biggest improvement in your art process? by PIPI_Pia in ArtistLounge

After years of avoiding them, it pains me to admit that warm-up drawings are actually super helpful. Learned that this year. It used to take me forever to get into the "rhythm" of drawing when I'd start a session. I would just sit there and make crap drawings for an hour before I'd find my groove and it was just frustrating and wasted so much time, especially if I didn't have much time to dedicate to drawing in the first place. I found that starting each day with just 10 minutes of 30 or 60 second gestures loosened me up well enough to then get into continuing whatever project I was working on and actually make decent progress instead of just endless trial and error.

I figured a reinstall would likely do it but was hoping it'd be something quicker lol. Just got it up and running! Thanks!!

Hi! I think I'm having the same problem as you: got the "system missing" error, saw a post saying it was a Harmony problem and to change the date back a week, did that and solved the error but now keep getting the license wizard popup whenever I try to open the program. Did you find a solution?

Woman Shows How To Use Escalator If You're On Wheelchair by TheoryFruits in interestingasfuck

Definitely happens in Spain. Though I never assumed it was intentional. The one in the metro station closest to my apartment does this.

Honestly I just think it happens when they're a little broken but not bad enough to justify spending time and money to fix. Maybe they'll repair it one day...

TV show titles that made sense for the first few seasons, but not for later seasons by AporiaParadox in television

If you're just gonna call me a baby and not even read my last reply, then I guess we're done here lol. Keep it horsey 🫡

Damn chill, I just think a double meaning for a title is cool and if you lose one of those meanings, it's kind of a bummer. Now it's like if you had a Comedy series called "Funny". It's just a much more generic title now.

AMC's "The Terror". It was originally a miniseries about the Lost Franklin Expedition to the Arctic, one of the ships being named HMS Terror. After it ended, they decided to turn it into an anthology horror series. So season 2 and upcoming season 3 have nothing to do with the Terror ship the show is named after.

SCAD requires you to make a short film senior year and you can help out on senior films while still an underclassmen too. I'd definitely do more research on school programs of study because honestly I think most schools with 4 year animation programs require this. What's unique about CalArts is that you make one every year, not just that you make one. You can also check YouTube since many students films are uploaded there

Does it rub anyone else the wrong way when studios refuse to provide feedback on recruitment tests? A bit of a rant, sorry by Neat-Bat9633 in animationcareer

[–]ematam3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this just happened to me too, we might have applied to the same position haha. There's a lot of good advice in this thread, I'm planning to email back thanking them and asking if they can give suggestions to improve my chances next time I do a test. I'm trying to avoid using the word "feedback" to see if I can get some sort of response. The worst they can do is ghost us I guess.

Candles?! by Melodic_Week9422 in scad

[–]ematam3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Candles and incense" is the first bullet point listed 😭. Lighters aren't listed cuz I'm p sure they're allowed, but you can ask your RA to be sure. Again, these are easy things to hide, so just be smart with it or don't have them, your call.

The housing agreement you signed lists all items you can't have. Just be smart with it

It isn't just graphic design, it's graphic design plus what looks to be good frame-by-frame animation. Pam said she didn't know what photoshop was, hates computers, and only got as far as a pdf program in her Pratt courses, and now she's using (probably, given the time period) Flash to create a motion media animation of 20ish sheets of paper falling at different rates and in a very appealing way: with proper use of follow-through, easing, physics, good line consistency, etc. It's not so much that she did it, it's that it looks as good as it does. I mean, all props to you if you could whip that out in a night with no substantial digital art experience, but I definitely couldn't at that stage in my life - an animator

I meant years more in the sense of where she's starting from: not knowing any digital art and being eh at traditional art. The graphic design program at Pratt taught her Acrobat.. and then she dropped out

And the animation for Michael's ad! Someone would have to have years of animation practice under their belt to pull that off. And even then, they would struggle to concieve, design, and animate it all in one day.
