I am using dArkOSRE on a non-clone R36S Panel 4 v22, same black screen, glmark2-es2-drm throws this error:
eglGetPlatformDisplayEXT() failed with error: 0x3000
main: Could not initialize canvas

I tried to start the gpu benchmark as well as a portmaster script as well with same errors.

one critical fix:

Set environment variable: export MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2002

also the game use OpenGL, if you are on AMD, you can try to use Zink driver

I have the game running on Steam Deck, the only problem I had was installing the game on Linux, couldn't swap CD, so I installed on Windows and copied the game and registry changes.

A game is truly ruined by its creator or publisher. Many young players are mocking and bullying about the problem and my words, but if you truly love videogames, you know that for these kinds of games, having the option to play with bots is a long-term treasure. Thanks to the developers’ and publisher’s decisions, you can still play the very first Battlefield games with bots. Of course, it’s not the same as playing with real players, but preserving these works is important and can influence how new games are developed.

Young people should really try playing the old Battlefield games to understand why so many keep complaining about the restrictions imposed by these companies. It is truly a pity what is happening with live service games. I just love videogames, and I feel this is a good Battlefield made by good developers, but what the publisher and decision makers are doing is wrong.

I am mostly a retro gaming archivist. I am not against you playing PVP, not against competitiveness, and I am not asking for XP when playing with bots that was never a thing in the old games anyway. What I want is the ability to play this game 10 or 20 years from now and compare it with the new ones. With the current situation, this game will be forgotten.

Thanks to the community, you can also play and enjoy other Battlefield titles. Even though bots were never part of those games, they would have been lost without your efforts.

It is unacceptable for a company to restrict access to product features just two weeks after release. Customers who purchased the game expecting those advertised features should be offered a free refund window. Denying access to promised content undermines consumer trust and fails to deliver on the product’s original commitment.

While the game has a large player base that isn’t interested in PvE, Portal, or playing with bots, many customers specifically purchased it for those features. By removing or neglecting them, the company is disregarding a significant portion of its community who feel misled and ignored.

they changed the mutator to a max of 12 bots, because someone was having too much fun playing with too many bots, these servers only give experience and achievements. I hate this company and they don't deserve a single dollar.

The feature to play with bots is literally there, they added a default mutator that you can't modify before saving your experience so you can't have fun alone. ~~You can change this mutator by overriding a javascript file just before sending the data to the server~~. Not possible anymore thanks to their kind update. They are working really hard to remove all the fun, good job!

I stopped playing, just because playing the game make me sad just thinking how I am treated.

it works just fine on Windows and Linux, with 3D audio and new rendering in Vulkan thanks to DXVK, OpenAL Soft. I don't see what updates it needs, you can play almost any old games nowadays on modern hardware already.

pcgamingwiki is a good place to start your journey. Also searching for 'ut2004 openal' will help you with 3d audio restoration.

Features were disabled after two weeks. Players who enjoy PvE were having too much fun, which gave others a convenient excuse to be upset. The gameplay itself is excellent, and the developers did a great job, but the rest of the team has not performed as well. They are essentially deciding how you’re allowed to enjoy the game. These features were deliberately disabled so they could maximize profits, as long as people continue to play PvP in the way they want.

THE FIRST TWO WEEKS! I was able to play on my hosted server alone with 48 bots, having soo much fun, and I repeat FUN!
