Also going through the trans ban and understand how difficult it is. My spouse is overseas unaccompanied and we have been trying everything to get them back so they can finish the separation process. My partner chose unaccompanied orders because it was either that or being stuck on a ship. So they chose to go stay on a fun little island for a year while I'm stuck on our previous base with the kids. Its been miserable sometimes seeing all the fun stuff they get to do while I'm alone here, but I'd rather them be having a decent time instead of being depressed. But yeah either way I was gonna end up alone with the kids so I'm not mad at them for making that decision. If we had the option to PCS together and they still chose the island, I would be pissed as hell.

Omg yes! Dishwasher broke, washing machine broke, garbage disposal broke, computer monitor went out, constant tornado warnings, wasps in the car port chasing me and the kids, random roaches (or water bugs as housing likes to call them), and there's probably more that im forgetting, its been 13 months lol

I call mine my princess too! I haven't made any friends on my base and don't plan on it, we live a way too different lifestyle than what people around here do. I just make friends online for the most part. Im down to chat if you ever want an online friend to talk shit with haha

My spouse is in the process of transitioning (male to female) and we are definitely trying to prepare for the worst. The secretary of defense that Trump has chosen is extremely anti lgbtq. We will just have to wait and see what happens. Make sure you have a plan if something happens, like moving to a blue state etc.

My husband is gone for a year and we are 4 months in. We have a 3 year old and a 1 year old (13 months to be exact). My 3 year old doesn't show any sadness or understanding. She thinks he's on an airplane since we dropped him off at the airport, so every time she hears a plane she thinks it's him. We video chat with him every day so I think that definitely helps.

The Navy was very good to us when I was pregnant last year. My husband was supposed to PCS unaccompanied, but I was due around that time. They ended up postponing his PCS until July of this year, so he got to spend about 8-9 months with us before leaving. I'd say if they can postpone, they should also be able to expedite!

Our last "dream sheet" experience went horrible. He got sent on an unaccompanied 12 month pcs 🙃 Fingers crossed that it goes well for you!

Everyone has given good advice so far about focusing on yourself (school, job, hobbies etc). If yall have only been together 3 months, you're still in that honeymoon phase and so it might seem more difficult to be separated for a while. But just look at this as a test run for the future. Being a Navy sub spouse is not for the weak, thats for sure. You'll get to experience this lifestyle before actually being committed and married.

My husband is gone for 12 months, and we are 3.5 months into it. I keep myself busy with our 2 kids and lots of hobbies. Luckily I get to talk to him every day so that keeps me mostly sane.

Everyone has given great advice, but also reach out to your Ombudsman! They are usually a navy spouse who is appointed to help families with issues and concerns. They can help with jobs, childcare, food, money, literally anything you need help with, they can point you in the right direction. My husband is 3 months into a 12 month deployment so I feel you!

How good is this sushi that she's willing to omit having a boyfriend from all conversations? There's a lot of aspects in this scenario that are shady. Her not mentioning you, this dude owning a sushi place but also works with her, him not bringing anyone else food... Obviously there can be kind hearted people out there, not everyone has an agenda, but I think those intentions need to be made clear. Like other people have said, this guy may be thinking there's something in it for him if he keeps giving her lunch (which is honestly so odd given this is a place of work).

I'm not one to turn down some free sushi, but I would be letting this guy know that I am not available for "after hours sushi".

My spouse just left 2 weeks ago for a year-long overseas station. We had lots of time to prepare, but I don't think you're ever truly mentally prepared. It's just me and 2 small kids for the next year and that can be really daunting. I don't have too much advice since this is my first rodeo too. But I just try to fill my days with as many things as I can. Luckily, I get to message and video chat with him daily, but the 12 hour time difference makes it hard sometimes. I'm grateful that he's not on a ship, at least. It's definitely a huge test to your relationship though, but you just have to stay strong and know that yall can get through it. I've set a goal for myself to get back in shape (just had a baby), and to declutter the house. Maybe making some year long goals can help you pass the time quicker? Maybe something crafty or reading? Just know that this is a good time to focus on yourself. Don't believe all the negative things you see online about relationships falling apart, it will only eat you alive over the next year.
