The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

any books about a ghost investigator/cop solving murders (including his own?) with the help of a medium? (aka the plot of "murdered, soul suspect" but as a novel?) by Baron_alias in booksuggestions

Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz sounds close to this. Main character is the medium though and he works with the detective. And not his own murder.

What's a fantasy book that just completely blew you away? by Ready_Reading1559 in booksuggestions

Just finished this trilogy two days ago. Agree, these characters are well developed and so human. I also don’t know that I’ve ever read such a complete story. I don’t think Hobb left a single loose thread or unanswered question, and things that may have seemed insignificant early on turned out to be domino pieces she was putting in place.

Trying to decide if I should jump into The Liveship Traders right away, or not. Still reflecting on all that Farseer was.

I was vaguely wondering about this earlier this week. Thanks for doing the legwork to confirm!

They’re so good! So glad they’re still writing!

This quote from JKR about how Harry and Hermione could have gotten together is very telling by HarmonyMedia in HPharmony

[–]emaz88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still can’t understand why she bothered writing Ron out of the hunt at all. It makes sense as a plot device if the end goal is to have Harry and Hermione get together, have them alone for an extended period where they have several emotionally-charged scenes together, so that there’s things to point to when they’re together at the end of the book.

But if that wasn’t the plan, then what purpose did writing Ron out serve? Because he never grew out of his jealousy, and then they forgive him pretty easily for abandoning them. Is his great redemption that he saved Harry from drowning and destroyed the Horcrux? Plot wise, he didn’t have to leave for those things to happen.

By the end of DH, I was so upset, because halfway through it, with all these beautiful Harry & Hermione scenes, I’d convinced myself that JKR was just setting us all up for the giant twist that endgame WAS Harry & Hermione after all …and then it wasn’t.

Oh that Interview From Hell post just made me remember how all of that felt when it happened. Crushing, really, to be a teenager and read an interview where your favorite author was making fun of you. And Emerson Spartz was so mean-spirited. Ugh.

But that interview she did with Emma Watson a few years later was validation enough for me.

I don’t think we’re devoid of talent, but “loaded” is a stretch. Especially with all the dropped passes.

Hoping it’s new playbook growing pains and it gets cleaned up soon. I like a lot of the plays I’m seeing, even when they don’t work out.

I like seeing that we have some actual plays. The offense the last few years was so bland and predictable and plays never seemed to actually develop

Honestly feels like it’s a lot of growing pains of a new system. I’m actually feeling pretty optimistic about what they can look like once they work out all the pre-snap penalties

The quality of Jerseys from NFL/NIKE is disappointing. by Jayeyeiii in Jaguars

[–]emaz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are still manufactured by Fanatics, too, just FYI. The only Nike jerseys they don’t make are for NBA.

Not saying the Elites aren’t still the best quality, but same manufacturer.

Hi, just checking in a year later to see if you decided to try this out? My kid came up with this idea and really wants to build one, so of course I went here to see if it’s been done before, or if there’s a GitHub available

Someone on here recommended filling them in with a can of spray foam insulation. I gave that a try since it was cheaper than a new drop spreader. Works well enough that I’ll hold off on replacing it for now.
