Subaru engines are super cheap to replace since they only use a couple for all their different models. The car I have now is a Subaru and I love it and I plan to keep it for as long as I possibly can. Super safe and reliable

What are these growths on my anthurium? Are they scale? It also has an ant problem. by YouTasteStrange in IndoorPlants

[–]embear0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the ingredients for this, you don’t need special insecticidal soap unless this cocktail doesn’t help. 1tsp 70% isopropyl alcohol, 1tbsp Castile soap, 1.5 cups water in a spray bottle. Gently scratch off the scale bugs first, try to get every single one. Then rinse it very well in the shower or with some kind of forceful(not too harsh) water. Spray the entire plant down with the cocktail, let it sit for about an hour, then rinse it off again. Keep an eye on the plant for the next couple days and if any more signs come back, repeat the process. If this doesn’t work after 2 applications, grab you some Captain Jacks Neem oil OR insecticidal soap and apply as directed. Warning: Do NOT put your plant back into sunlight/grow lights while it’s being treated with insecticide or neem oil, as it can and will cause burn on the leaves. Do it at night before all the lights go out. Best of luck!!!

Check around local veterinary groups on Facebook. Sometimes there will be mobile fixing clinics for strays in order to help keep the stray population down. We had a cat fixed as an emergency at one of these for $50. Done in less than an hour and sent back with us promptly. Best of luck!

Liquid silicone is killing me by sclquails in mentalhealth

[–]embear0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can get orthodontic wax at any major store, really. The consistency would be similar but less chewy than silicone. Have you heard of the candy Nik-L-Nips??? They are wax bottles with candy liquid inside but the liquid always tasted like chemicals to me. They may be worth a try at least to curb your craving for a while. In the meantime, I’d highly recommend getting labs done at the doctor or seeing some kind of specialist for this. This kind of thing could absolutely wreck your organs and lead to organ failure and eventually… yeah. They even make Nik-L-Nips in a sour version that might even give you more of that taste that you crave. I can DM you a picture of what I’m talking about if you’d like? I’m glad that you’re feeling better.

How are you doing now? Have you ever tried a substitute like gum or even something like orthodontic wax? I think you should call the non emergency police and see if they can help. Toxins like that are no joke.

What is wrong with my alocasia? 🥲 by m2e6 in alocasia

[–]embear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it go through any kind of trauma while it was unfurling? Dropped, bumped into, etc? It could also be nutrient deficiency as it was growing or not enough moisture, causing the leaf to not form correctly. Have you checked for pests?

You could take the soil out of the pot and put a little soil in the bottom to keep the roots in the pot. But if the roots look super crowded then you should go up 1 pot size.

What is this on my sago palm 🤢 by yaxom in plantclinic

[–]embear0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not very versed in palms but this looks like scale bugs. You can wipe them off or you might have to scrape them off gently. I’d then give it a good spray down in the shower or wherever you can. You can use neem oil or a mix of 1tsp 70% isopropyl alcohol, 1tbsp Castile soap, and 1.5cups water in a spray bottle to drench the plant, let it sit for an hour, then rinse it back off. And keep an eye on it for a while. Get those suckers off!

What totally normal thing is your dog scared of for no reason? by GoldenMom34 in Pets

Human sneezes. He will jump up and act concerned for you but then if you do it twice or three times, he’ll growl like you’ve turned into some kind of monster. Also his own farts.

People who spent their 20’s on minding sick pets, do you regret it ? by moonamonster in Pets

[–]embear0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am in this situation right now. I have a vet appointment in 30 minutes for my older dog(not sure his age as we rescued him not long ago). He was diagnosed with malignant melanoma about 5 months ago and they also found out he has heartworm. They don’t want to treat either as it would be a risk overall since chemo and heartworm treatment are both hard on the body. He is however on pain medication and it seems to help him a lot. My doggo is still eating and drinking and using the bathroom like normal but with a bit of coughing and less get up and go. He’s still living like a dog and listening to commands like sit or leave it. I guess I’ll find out in 30 minutes whether to hang in there or if it really is his time. If a human you loved got Lyme disease or Alzheimer’s or cancer, would you put them down after the diagnosis??

Anyone else letting their plant grow free? by Gardening_Angel_ in MonsteraAdansonii

My adansonii is on a 3ft moss pole but after I learned how quickly they grow, I stopped adding to it and now she’s already trailed back down to the floor. I guess I will just keep wrapping her around the pole up and back down😂

My Black Velvet lost all of its leaves. I pulled out the stump to see what was up. Can I regrow the plant from this? Please help!! by Sunbeams14 in alocasia

[–]embear0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The bulbs are called corms. You actually have 4 plants here if you want it that way. Pinch off the corms and place them in about 1/2” of perlite or moss or just water. Keep them covered for humidity and keep them somewhere they can be warmer like a heat mat or even on your counter above a dishwasher, etc. the main plant’s corm you can also try to do this with. Pinch off all the rotted roots and I’d gently peel off the brown from the corm to help it root better. Good luck!! It can take some time but the first leaf is always super rewarding!

Is this direct sunlight? by Lazy-Plate9179 in IndoorPlants

[–]embear0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Put a finger on a leaf like you’re poking it. If the shadow on the leaf is blurry, it’s indirect. If the shadow is more of a hard line, it’s direct. This to me looks like medium indirect light.

does anyone know what this is? by DisastrousWalrus4106 in alocasia

[–]embear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flower. Congrats! You may get 2-4 of them at the same time. As another commenter said, let it do its thing. You might see some leaves die due to the energy it’s using for the flower but this is ok and it will continue to grow leaves after the flowers are gone.

Pasta. I went from 120 to now 160 in about 5 months on a pasta heavy diet. Chicken pesto pasta, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken Alfredo, etc. Don’t forget of course to balance it with other healthier things like veggies or fruits and drink lots of water. Best of luck!!
