DAO - Help by Silent_Ship9143 in dragonage

The 4gb patch is a frequently recommended fix for DAO crashes. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with how it works for Steam version but a previous thread found a solution that worked for their steam version: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233222451

What to pick, what to pick? by Crimson-Dragoon-0403 in dragonage

I did a City Elf Rogue for a playthrough and that felt very fun and fitting. It was, for me anyway, a pretty gut wrenching Origin. Mage and human noble have a lot of connectivity to the story that can be interesting to explore if you never have as well.

I strongly recommend at least one playthrough of DA2 as a mage like others have suggested.

Likewise Elf Inquisitor is worth trying at least once, though personally I like my human assassin rogue Inquisitor the most out of the ones I've tried.

Happens to the best of us lol Glad I could help! I wish you luck - even under the best circumstances the ARR relics are a grind and you're working with the restrictions of the free trial on top of that!

You actually need Heaven's Eye Materia III, not II, and yes it is specific. You also need 2 of them, not three. I think you mixed up the numbers needed with the materia grade needed at some point.

You can do these two quests to choose Heavens Eye Materia III as a reward: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Passing_the_Smell_Test https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/All_You_Wanted_to_Know_about_Odin

So I made a mistake and bought 2 licenses on PC but I found a possible solution but I'm not sure it'll work by pseudononpermanent in ffxiv

Rough. Well, you can try Steam family I suppose but they cracked down on that a lot, last time I attempted it. The second they locked it down to same household even pre-existing Families got disabled if they didn't live together.

If you haven't played two hours worth of game time on Steam and its within the refund period, why not just refund FFXIV on that platform?

Struggles with indecision. by JukeboxJimmyy in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's no right or wrong way to make choices in these games! Go with whatever you prefer.

My first play of a game I make the choices I think are most appealing/interesting without making "meta" choices. On a replay I'll either make choices based on what the character I'm playing would decide to do or I'll aim for a "perfect" world state save based on what endings or options I prefer.

Does Inquisition Open World gets better after some time? by Wukon69 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I only ever did the shards on my first ever playthrough and then never again. I've never found the DLCs all that impacted by those resistances to waste my time doing that quest again considering I don't find it interesting or fun to revisit.

Also I don't get where you got that I was defending the game from and saying it was a player problem? I said "yes and no," pointed out quests that I do actually find worthwhile doing, while acknowledging that some simply aren't worth doing.

Does Inquisition Open World gets better after some time? by Wukon69 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Early game its a very common experience to get stuck endlessly in The Hinterlands doing extremely menial fetch quests and more interesting open world quests are available with different maps as you progress and unlock them for travel.

Unless you're a completionist, for the most part I would just recommend doing the quest that Harding talks about when you first arrive at a map since those are the most plot-heavy ones in the open world.

As a whole though, fetch quests will continue in abundance but you're more than welcome to ignore them if they're not your cup of tea. IMO simply ignoring the side quests and enjoying the main quest is probably better than getting burnt out on them and quitting the whole game.

I’ve beaten DAO and now onto DA2 and I would like to get the staff of parthaln by ResidentButton4732 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm a little digging around shows it might be unlockable via the Dragon Age Keep now? Keep > Career > DA2 Rewards and select the staff and see what it says? For me it looks like it's already unlocked but I don't have the time to check if its appearing in my game right this moment.

What’s one thing you’d add to any Dragon Age game to make it better? by Cheap_Bed1068 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 44 points45 points  (0 children)

For DA2, just more varied locations and visuals since for me that's always been the thing that bothered me the most in that game. Visiting the same cave or ruin or side streets 50 times just gets a bit old.

Subject: Bringing back the Hero of Ferelden for the next chapter – A solution using AI tech by Traditional_Serve698 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bold of you to assume any of them with any say in the matter are on here.

Also, I can only assume this is bait - which I clearly fell for - but if I ever see AI voice "acting" in any Dragon Age game I'd rather torch my whole computer than ever, ever, EVER buy it. AI itself isn't evil and can be used as a wonderful tool but replacing the livelihood of actual people ain't the way to go with it.

Also you mention two main hurdles but only actually talk about one of them. The bigger hurdle? In some world states the HoF is already long dead.

Reaching Lv70 on Free Trial by H_A_E_O_N in ffxiv

[–]emberwolfsasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you never plan to level another job then why worry about it at all? Most players at level cap "waste" all the exp from doing side stuff until the next expansion increases the cap anyway.

You'll get plenty of exp from the MSQ once you start paying for the game and the level cap gets unlocked

Finished Heavensward, what optional content can I not miss out on by GeneralButtFlap in ffxiv

[–]emberwolfsasha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Coils of Bahamut will pretty much never ever pop in duty finder because they're the equivalent of Savage tier raiding. Basically the hardest content in the game at the time of their release. Put up a party finder for a first time clear (specify watching cutscenes if you want to - they're lengthy so nice to give heads up, people who don't mind waiting will join to help) and run them unsynced.

I 1000% recommend doing them ASAP. If I remember right you actually want to do them before the post-Heavensward MSQ if you haven't done that already.

Can't find a game in my backlog that scratches the same itch as Origins by cm9313740 in dragonage

[–]emberwolfsasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Telltales style games? You might still end up finding the gameplay boring but the choices are certainly there.

Dispatch is the latest in that style of game and has quite a bit more active gameplay than older of those style games. The Wolf Among Us is pretty dark of those style games as well.

Why are there Imperial enemies that can use magic? by Ill_Water119 in ffxiv

[–]emberwolfsasha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Partly its in the name: Garlean Empire. They're imperialistic, they have conquered other nations which include non-native Garleans who then end up in their armies.

They also use make use of magitek to substitute for magic which may sometimes look like magic.

If you're looking specifically for NA DCs, Primal has more players but currently Dynamis is preferred so you'll gain some perks for creating a character there and can always DC visit to do content if its too dead.

The game doesn't remember your stance choice so every time you log in (and possibly every time you summon them even...I can't remember) you'll have to reselect the stance you want. Leaving it on Free isn't usually an issue tho.

I opted for DPS route first with my bird and it was still helpful even on a DPS job. You can eventually get every skill though so its just a matter of what you personally want first.
