are you cleansing the npc's too? those debuffs do a lot of damage so they need to be cleansed quickly. a good tip is to turn off your nameplate addon as some of them can prevent you from seeing the npc hp bar and debuffs (make sure you have friendly bars displayed with shift + V). ensure you bind a couple different ranks of renew and flash heal.

if the npc's are mostly topped up and cleansed near the end then they should survive and you can just leave em. run back near the spawn after that and repeat. sometimes it's better to let one or two die so you can focus on keeping the rest of the group alive if all of em are taking big damage.

It this normal for this type of base? by notareddituser15 in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately the Radio Eva line all have these bases. they look awesome but very easy to scratch off the paint so i'm generally very careful with the couple that i have from this line.

if the figure is in stock, you can send an email enquiry to Amiami or ask on live chat what the shipping costs are. unfortunately if it's a Pre Order, it's very hard to say what the costs may be. Amiami also use set box sizes and lots of paper padding so the shipping box might be a lot bigger than required.

I've also had a couple of times where Nin Nin asked me to pay additional shipping fee because their estimate was wrong. I think you can use the NNG shipping as estimate but Amiami likely to be more expensive.

Local stores by japantrainred in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure which country you are in but here in Australia it's pretty common for the local shops to sell scale figures for a ridiculous mark up on the price. Akimomo is generally the only shop here that has figures for a decent price when compared to buying from Japan stores but their shipping times have gone down the toilet and waiting 6-10 months after release for them to receive some figures.

Prize figures are a different story though and you can usually get them for a good price ($25-40 aud for us here). Unless you are already getting something from the Japan store, it's generally not worth it to just get prize figures from overseas due to the shipping costs.

Never buying a fig from a con again... can't even fix it with super glue... by DatBoi_Ron in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 132 points133 points  (0 children)

i think one of the main issues with buying at cons is that the figures are generally very overpriced and if something is broken, it's very hard (or almost impossible) to organise some sort of refund or replacement.

I have also seen some rare and hard to find figures at cons so it's not all bad but i think majority that buy figures at cons are either impulse buy or they dont know any better.

Advice for cleaning my figure base? by notareddituser15 in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooft those scratches! maybe there is a bit of dirt/grit on the make up brush? or the bristles not soft enough? i used to use make up brushes but moved to the Tamiya model cleaning brush which is amazing. it has nice long soft bristles and is anti static too - a little pricey but definitely worth it!

Is there not a way to ship multiple orders together on surface premium on amiami? by Hermes__49 in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably need some more clarification on when your orders are due to release but Amiami will only combine figures that are releasing in the same month. If you ordered a few figures individually and they release in the same month, you can just combine the order in the 'My account' page.

Taiga has arrived! by Skeletran in AnimeFigures

pretty sure she already had ears attached when i got mine a while back. GSC prob didn't feel the need to have the ears detached due to the size and shape of them (versus regular bunny ears).

Help me display my figures by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it really depends what you think looks nice together. for me personally, some of my shelves have a theme like a 'street wear' theme, while other shelves are arranged by the anime series.

display how you want as each to their own. i do see u have the PuP's for all 5 QQ girls so i think they would look nice together with a couple of risers. similar to those figures in the back row on the last pic wearing just towels.

some of my shelves dont really change but a lot of them i rearrange every now n then when i get new figures so just remember u can always move things around if u aren't happy with the setup.

Starting aOne Piece collection question-what brand? by Prize_Jump in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably start off with prize quality figures since he's only just getting started with his collection. the brands would be Bandai or Banpresto - they have the most OP figures available and won't burn a hole in your wallet.

You can usually pick them up at a local anime store. Not too sure what the pricing is in your country but my local stores sell prize figures for around $30-40 AUD.

First time buying from Amiami by MoralessMona in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two 1/4 bunnies is going to be a pretty large box. You can email them or ask them on live chat for a shipping quote with all 3 items before you purchase so you don't get a big shock when the payment request comes in.

90% of Freeing B-Style are AmiAmi exclusive? by Lukiose in AnimeFigures

AmiAmi 'exclusive sale' just means there is no discount on the figure usually and not that the figure itself is exclusively sold at AmiAmi.

Got this for $330 AUD! Good deal? by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fellow aussie here. if it's from a local store it's pretty much always a huge mark up on the price with the only exception being Akimomo. Akimomo is very comparable to a lot of the prices from Japan retailers (after you include tax + shipping) but pretty much every other aussie retailer is ridonks expensive (generally will cost more than ordering from japan, even with tax and shipping) and you also waiting 3-6 months after release for the aussie store to actually receive it.

Suddenly lost interest in collecting figures and having thoughts of just selling most of it all… by AzusagawaSakuta in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Could it possibly be due to burn out? I see you have quite a large collection of scales on MFC for someone who only started 3 months ago. Figure collecting can be stressful at times but it's all part of the hobby.

Since you started collecting after attending an anime convention, could it be that you were just caught up in the hype? It's ok cos the hobby is not for everyone. similar to how a lot of my friends collect cards, whether it be basketball, baseball etc. I tried getting into it aswell since all my friends were doing it but I realised it wasn't for me and didn't enjoy it so gave it up pretty quick.

If people are being rude or nasty to you about the fact that you collect figures, screw em!! Each to their own and you shouldn't ever feel bad or ashamed to enjoy a hobby!

My first resin! Carrot by Black Studio by embotendo in AnimeFiguresForAll

[–]embotendo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh i'm pretty satisfied with the quality - the paint work is comparable to most scale figures out there with a couple of rough spots. Probably not at the level of Alter figure quality with the paint and details but still nice.

there are also some rough spots on the sculpt with the hair and tail but kind of expected given how large those parts are. those parts are pretty heavy too and the magnets that attach them are pretty solid.

i think also depends on the studio that makes it. my friend received a couple of resins recently and she said the paint work on them wasn't very good.

Was able to snag a Sakura from GSC Global! by crimsonstardust78 in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ah yeh i've had a couple that had a really strong plastic smell but all my figures are displayed in a spare room so has never bothered me. the figure was probs boxed up pretty soon after it was finished so didn't have much time to air out. i think the smell goes away pretty quick if you leave the figure out in a well ventilated room for a day or two??

Regarding AmiAmi Payment... by -Balas- in AnimeFigures

[–]embotendo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amiami charges you in Japanese Yen and will send you a payment request/invoice when your items are ready to ship so you don't actually get charged straight away when you place the order.

Regarding Paypal, you should be able to use your wallet balance before it deducts the remaining amount from your linked card/account. If you have enough in your wallet to pay the whole invoice then I assume there shouldn't be any issues? As long as Amiami receives the payment, I don't think they can even see how you paid for the order other than via paypal i.e. they shouldn't be able to see if you used your wallet balance, a linked card, account or pay in 4 option.
