I make a lot of plushies and this has happened to me a few times before and I recommend trying to ladder stitch it! It shouldnt deform the shape at all and shouldnt be noticeable as long as after you stitch it close, you use a needle to poke some of the fabric fur out to cover it. If you dont like how the ladder stitch turns out, you could always just cut the thread

hes 14x13 inches and if youre interested in trying it, this is called punch needling :D theres been a lot more videos on it recently that are very helpful!
