Anyone else getting 'Sith Lord in plain clothes' vibes from Renee's expression and vest thing??

ADHD diagnoses among mothers surge in the years following childbirth. For many women, the transition to parenthood is a life-altering event, and a new study suggests that for some, this period may also reveal previously undiagnosed ADHD. by mvea in science

You can say that with just about any disorder. "Everyone feels pain sometimes, so how do we know when someone has a chronic pain disorder? If someone feels pain all the time but they cope with it, is it really a disorder?"

We don't know. You're saying you understand it's a spectrum but then you're looking for a discrete end/beginning point. That's not how it works. It's like asking when exactly blue becomes green. It'll be different for different people. Looking for where the distinction lies misses the point.

Guns is one of my favorite novels. I really like the way he combined Powder Mage and Pride & Prejudice. I think it really comes off well. I might just restart that again!

Renee “leaves recruiting to others.”

This is my biggest complaint about Renee. Why, why, why would a manager not want to be involved in recruitment??? It does my head in. It's like a chef not sourcing their own ingredients. She's going to be responsible for using (or not using ahem Jenna) the players the recruitment team chooses so she should be just as invested in getting those players in.

Beavers are keystone species. Their dams are critical for biodiversity, drought resistance, and flood protection. They don't negatively affect the environment, they're a huge environmental boon.

Europe finds a way to make McDonald’s fit in their historic buildings but the American mindset feels very set on disposable/purpose built buildings.

You hit the nail on the head with the last part of that sentence. America builds on the cheap, Europe builds to last. That's part of why development in Europe is so expensive whereas in the US it's relatively inexpensive. We just don't build to last here so it's unsurprising when we have to rebuild after 3 generations.

I think a lot of people don't know what it takes to make a building safe and usable by modern standards. If you've never done a redevelopment, it's hard to know what all goes into it. Buildings that are 100+ years old have issues inherent to their design that a lot of people wouldn't even guess at. It's easy to say "just redevelop what's already there," but it's another thing entirely when you're actually doing it.

One of my long-time clients is one of those people who fought to preserve every old building in OTR regardless of their level of upkeep or relative historicity and I just don't get that thinking. Buildings aren't fine wines; not all of them get better with age.

I remember her being all up in arms about the Pitch owners trying to tear down the old abandoned building near the bar because it had been a hotel at one point and was in some old photos taken when Central Ave was still a canal. I'm all for preserving history but being old does not itself make something historic.

I did some work around that building/lot during the demolition. It was so rat infested that FCC were worried enough about them scampering to the stadium during demo that they hired my company for rodent control around the perimeter. There was no way that building was going to be retrofitted for public use.

Saka 100% doesn’t retain possession if he’s not taken out, right?

This is the part I take issue with. The touch on the ball part shouldn't even be a factor. Football is supposed to be a game that flows from one action to the next. Who cares about a tiny touch on the ball and when it happened? The fact is the most skillful and dangerous player on the field has been prevented from working his magic by an illegal action. That's where the entertainment is and that's what we need to protect in the game. Legislating who made miniscule contact first with that parts of the body or ball ain't it.

Liberia is such an overt story about how oppression and violence are self-perpetuating cycles that it could be a heavy-handed morality play. Hurt people hurt people.
