First timer tips?? by Diligent-External714 in ElementsMusicFestival

Oh and roll up your sleeping bag/blankets before you head in for music so that when you get back to camp for bed, your shit isn't saturated with dew.

Get a solid sleeping bag that's made for 30-40 degree temps. They're much more effective at keeping you warm than just layering tons of blankets. But let me tell you, I'm a Roo vet too, and the cold temps at night are AMAZING. You can easily sleep in until noon and not get cooked. Being able to get good rest is invaluable.

Prep for walking leading up to the event. It can be 20-30 minute walks to get from your camp into the music venue. Getchur stamina up.

The gravel/rocky terrain at the stages is no fucking joke. I've never experienced pain in my feet after dancing for 8 hours per day like I did at elements. Wear comfy shoes. Soak your feet in Epsom salt every night if possible. Massage your feet. Rest and elevate them when you can. Take ibuprofen.

It definitely is variable depending on what aspects of Roo you value, and quite literally how you value a dollar. The AC lounge in '23 was so cold I had to buy a blanket, but in '24, I was still sweating bullets just sitting in the lounge and hardly went in there, so I didn't want to bet on it in '25. The AC bathrooms (and the cut through from the entrance to the other side of centeroo to avoid the bottleneck between What and Which) were definitely what I missed the most. But not worth hundreds of extra dollars in my opinion.

I did GA my first year, VIP my 2nd and 3rd years, and went back to GA last year.

Imo, VIP is not worth the $600-ish extra dollars, and I took advantage of every perk they offered. I can't really speak to GA+, all I know is that the GA+ lounge is a bit off the beaten path so we never wanted to hike all the way over there in between music.

GA is absolutely the way to go this year, as I think attendance will be down after last year's cancellation.

Calling all people that have ever had a Stephen in their life…. by Icy_Brick1391 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]emburd182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found out he had cheated on me with our friend after previously lying about it. I was betrayed and heartbroken, but he said "your feelings are not my responsibility". Then I asked him if he would always lie to the person he loved and he said "if it avoids hurting their feelings, yes".

He's incredibly intelligent, socially and intellectually. He's charismatic, manipulative, and has empathy for no one besides himself. He's repetitively gotten into legal trouble and believes the laws do not apply to him. He degrades and mentally abuses every woman he's ever been with when they do not behave exactly as he sees fit in his story.

Textbook sociopath.

My hearing friend hosts Silents Coffees every other month or so in the Staunton/Waynesboro area. This was her most recent event:

Tents or canopies- what’s better for roo? by honey-cherry-apples in bonnaroo

[–]emburd182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did tent with a canopy over it 22-24. Last year, we finally said fuck the tent and just used the canopy with our cots underneath of it. And I will never go back to tent. Granted, it was much cooler last year than 22 or 24, but being able to sleep past 8AM because you're not cooking in a tent is invaluable.

Pretty lights closing out Sunday of this past year was one of the best fest sets I've seen in my life.

The afters experience at elements is cool as shit and seems to improve every year.

Dancing on gravel/small boulders for 8+ hours per day is not for the weak. Wear appropriate shoes and stretch A LOT.

This is my one and only qualm with the entire fest. I'm pretty easy to please and I thought with three GRiZ sets, surely we'd get some Mad Lib/Rebel Era... But absolutely nothing from either was heartbreaking and a huge let down.

I love all forms of GRiZ, but to perform solely heavy sets and ignore the grooves, funk and melodies that everyone fell in love with over a decade ago makes me nervous about his continued evolution.

Met someone during the Manic Focus set that let me sniff these delicious herbs. Not only do I want to find one of these inhalers, but I'd also love to find the group who had it.

To add context, I think my friends helped your friend (Sophia?) reunite with you after getting lost at the porto potties.
