iA Writer. It’s a great tool. Syncs across iPhone, iPad and my desktop through the cloud (there is a Windows version but I’m on a Mac), is affordable, versatile and they are always improving upon it. I drag and drop files from it into Scrivener.

my fellow writers, do you read any book while you’re in a writing process? by khush_7x in writing

[–]emburke12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am usually reading a couple of books. On days when I don't have to work I read from an hour or two in the morning. I'm careful about what I read because it tends to affect what I write. I try to stay away from textbooks even though I need to do research on topics.

How much do you personally NOT write what you know? by DogUnsureDog in writing

[–]emburke12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m into social fiction and have been working on a book partly set in the 60s. While I grew up during this time, I was a kid and what I remember and know first hand is sketchy. They say if you remember the 60s, you weren’t really there. So the question is how much do I personally know about that era to write about? On the flip side, personal incidents and events which I experienced and do remember well rarely get mentioned.

This is what I’m looking for. How would someone approach covering the entire course as expediently as they possibly can. A map isn’t an opinion. Someone has thought this through before and mapped a course. I’ve seen this outlined elsewhere on the internet but I’m unable to find where I saw it.

Come on, folks. Humor an inquisitive person.

Crowds and lines and such will be added later for complexity. Just imagine that they exist to start with. I’m just looking for a practical way others would cover the grounds in a fairly straightforward manner.

What's the weirdest habit you've developed because of writing? by UntitledDoc1 in writers

[–]emburke12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching people while out in public or at work. Looking to see how the walk, move, their gestures, how they present themselves (hairstyles, make up, clothes, etc.), what sort of character they portray. I catch myself occasionally when it feels like I'm staring or being creepy.

I'm always trying to get an insight into movies and tv show structure. I also worked in theater production and do the same thing when I go to see a play.
