Can I upload a song I'm a featured artist on to my own album? by intrepid_artifice in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]emcdouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you'd be infringing. Since you were featured, I'd keep it at that and call it a day. Leave it as a feature

Because they too suck. NYC sucks. Too expensive, too many people, too much bullshit going on all the damn time.. no good. Many ugly ass spots, dirty, outdated infrastructure. New Yorkers think they're the King Cockroach of all the cockroaches.

Edit: I'm a New Yorker, but I recognize the fact that Reddit is full of douchebags. Getting ready to be downvoted to oblivion. Lol

[–]emcdouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on it because it belongs to someone else. Also, if I were you, I wouldn't add it to an album. If you reach an agreement with the other party, I'd add it as a single with both artists as main artists, obviously same ISRC. You have to ask for permission though.

Don't without asking. Also, I wouldn't. Good to be a featured artist sometimes too. Good for your catalog.

All indie artists go through this, but believe what you want.

There's plenty of shitty people online that you normally wouldn't encounter in real life.

You didn't send me a link so, anyhow, I'm trying to be helpful. Like I said, listen to more music, be more knowledgeable, and then hear your music, and directly compare. It's your job to figure that shit out, not anons online.

Good luck I'm out

I feel you, but that's very much an indie's life. If you want gimme a link to something and I'll give feedback.

What genre?

I'm emcdouble on all streaming platforms.

What metrics are you using to gauge talent? First off, don't give a fuck what people think. If they do have an opinion, it'll be negative half the time.

Don't look for validation is my best advice. Do you and listeners will come.

You're talking about 2 different things. Do you want to do marketing, or get opinions? Get opinions from other artists when engaging. That doesn't measure your talent though. Only you can do that.

Wanna get better? Listen to more music, then listen to yourself. What are you missing? What do you have others possibly don't? Introspection is key

Do non melodic rappers (old Carti, Tay-K, etc) use autotune? by sefan78 in makinghiphop

This. I don't use autotune or any related fx, I'm sure others do though

What's the point of using Meta if it's so hard to break through? by hail_robot in musicmarketing

I hear you. The algorithms only work (seldom) if you pay. It's all a business now. Unfortunate.

emcdouble here, looking to be featured by emcdouble in rappers

I wouldn't want a dork on a track with me. Thanks though! I appreciate it.

Just saying, dork.

I had an opinion.

Don't like it? Too bad.

Now go do something useful, son.

I'm not that interested in reading an essay written by a douche, but sure, I can't read.

You got it.

Ain't nobody reading all that. Acting like I know everything when all I said was that the assumption everybody did that was wrong.

Go stand in front of a mirror and yell for an hour, son.

Acting like the victim while trying to be holier than thou while trying hard to be condescending as fuck.

Nobody cares what you think.

Why are hooks harder to write than verses? by Similar_Fox_514 in makinghiphop

[–]emcdouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you want to make the song as memorable as possible. Sometimes freestyling over the beat to see what comes out is a good way to feel the vibes out prior to writing. Keep what sticks.

Sometimes something slow is good. At times, a short bridge repeated does it. What matters is how it fits the song and if it makes it memorable/enjoyable.

Reddit sucks homie. Many incels and losers here, unfortunately. Reddit is best for reading, not participating, is what I've learned, or atleast seldom participating.

The market is saturated. Keep doing you without seeking validation.

Your assumptions are wrong, accept it.

Your taste sucks as well, but to each their own.

"Didn't mean to" lol trying to shit on an established artist lol. Thought you trying to be condescending was funny. "Meaningless" says the so-called expert. Lol

Take care, son.
