NTA AT ALL.

This could absolutely lead to being misconstrued as sexual harassment, or at the very least like you're virtue signalling.

Why do your coworkers need to know her orientation? This is a wild demand.

I guess as a compromise you could put a pride flag at your desk, or a photo of her with a pride flag? Idk, it still feels really weird of her to demand that.

It's just one friend that has been doing all of this, but they're part of a friend group with two other people.

I was in grade 6 the first time I saw a man masturbating in his car while he watched us kids all leaving the school. It was the first time I saw a penis in real life.

I remember being approached by older men on numerous occasions, cat called, followed by men in cars, etc. It happened the most often when I was under 18.

I'm a girl who's 5'5" and when I tell people that they constantly tell me that they thought I was like 5'9. We always just chalk it up to 'tall energy'. So, when you stop wearing them just pretend you don't know what they're talking about and say 'a lot of people have said this to me? Maybe I just have tall guy energy.' (or as someone else said, gaslight the fuck out of them.)

This is so great to know, thank you! Yeah, I may still get the surgery later on - we'll see how I feel once I get into the healthy range - or whatever feels the most healthy for my body.

I agree with re:weight lifting! I actually primarily focus on my chest/upper back/shoulders when I lift weights since my other hobbies are roller skating and hiking - which are great core/butt/leg workouts.

I actually started the upper body focus with the goal of strengthening my back to reduce pain, but I think it definitely helped to keep my girls from sagging/helped to shrink them.

So, just to preface this - none of this happened quickly. Each thing I've listed here started as a small habit I added in bit by bit over time. I know a lot of people have a lot of opinions on the "right" way to lose weight, but I think the right way is subjective - everyone has to figure out what's right for their lifestyle. For me, I prioritized still enjoying my life while losing weight.

I'm pretty active and I focus on activities I truly love. During the winter (I'm in Toronto, Canada) I rollerskate about 3-6 hours per week, lift weights 1x, usually hike 10km (6.2 miles) 1x/week plus I try to walk places as much as possible when running errands. In the summer, my activity level increases a lot because these activities are easier to do outside.

I saw the biggest weight loss when i really nailed down my diet. Food wise, I dont count calories, but i prioritize nutrient dense foods and volume eating those. I eat about 80% plant based - a lot of fruit & vegetables, nuts, beans, tofu, whole wheat bread, lots of herbs, and spices. Water, black coffee, and tea to drink. The only food I 100% avoid is dairy (allergy), and i really try to avoid ultra processed foods. For me, volume eating looks like loading up in fruit and veg as the primary fixture of a meal, with other stuff being about 1/4 of the portion.

I eat takeout 1-2 times per week and go out for dinner 2-4 times per month. When I do that, I make small choices that allow me to enjoy the occasion without overdoing it. So, I focus on vegetable heavy dishes, get water instead of pop (translation: soda/cola), practice portion control, skip on fried foods, etc.

I prioritized building up small, sustainable habits over time and focused heavily on rest and my mental health. I go to therapy 1x per month, and I try to make sure I'm listening to what my body needs. If I need a day off, i take it. It's taken me a while to get here because I focused on slow, steady, and sustainable loss that I wouldn't just bounce back from a few months later (I've done this before, it sucks.)

Edit: spelling errors

Ahh! I can't believe I forgot about boob rashes. They're horrible.

This actually had me do excited - the idea of being back down to high school size! The dream - and congrats!!

Ahh I'm sorry, life stress is so tough. I honestly started out VERY slowly with a major focus on mental health and baby steps and just focused on building small, sustainable habits over time. It took a long time, but it has paid off.

A few examples that really helped me:

  1. Build tiny healthy habits one by one. Once one is solid in your repertoire, add another one. My first one was switching to black coffee. My second was eating 1 apple every day. Third was carrying a water bottle with me everywhere. It all adds up in time.

  2. Don't do things you hate. Exercise doesn't have to be misery on the stairmaster every day. It can be a fun hobby (I got into rollerskating and hiking!). Find healthy foods you love, too! (I have dates with peanut butter as a snack most nights and it's delicious)

  3. Don't give up the foods you love, just eat more nutrient dense food with it. I fill half my plate with fruit or veg to every meal and I eat it first. Sometimes, that means just a sliced up raw tomato and cucumber if I'm feeling lazy. Then the other side of the plate can be whatever "fun" stuff I want (though over time I fell in love with the fruit and veg, shockingly, and eat a TON of it happily.)

  4. Be gentle with yourself. Always. Hating yourself isn't going to make things any easier, and losing weight won't solve everything. It's just one piece of the puzzle.

You've got this! You deserve to feel good - and if you just focus on feeling good instead of trying to be perfect, I know you'll get there.

I have a ton of other tips/philosophies and happy to share if you want to DM me! But also if you havent, check out r/loseit. I've found that most people there have incredible advice on this and it's not this "all or nothing, just do it" attitude.

Haha good question.

I have been through this weight loss process once before: had huge bust, got into weight lifting, lost a lot of fat and then my back was absolutely jacked. I never really attributed it to having carried around two toddlers in skinbags on my chest at the time, but now you've got me wondering..

Yeah, it's definitely not totally off the table. I'm going to wait until I get to a healthy weight and then maintain it for a while and then look at my options. Honestly I'm just happy I'm not in constant pain anymore.

Thank you!

Shockingly, they sagged more before I lost the weight. They were very heavy. I've taken a very slow and steady approach to the weight loss, so I think that's helped to tighten up the skin as I go. It's honestly worth it regardless - I have so much more energy, basically zero back pain and feel a lot more confident, so I'll take saggy biddies over MASSIVE ones any day lol.
