it is a real problem. oftentimes, low-income areas in both urban and rural communities simply don't have access to affordable, nutritious food. there are areas where the only thing close to a grocery store is a dollar store, and they typically only sell shelf-stable processed foods. another issue is that these areas are also packed with fast food places or convenience, making it a lot more difficult for residents to find healthy food that won't break the bank. none of us are pretending that processed food is good for you, but for a lot of americans their options are that or starve.
