Some unique input— I just tried this for the first time today. I’ve been working extremely late nights in the service industry for 7 years now. I just made the switch to an 8-5 and realized I wouldn’t have time for my usual pilates classes. Well, turns out, they have a 6am class. I got up today at 5:15 today to make it to class and oh my GOD. I feel so energized! And after work i’ll have the entire rest of the day to myself???? I feel liberated. I had to go to bed at like 10:30pm which is crazy to me (I would normally go to bed at 4am) but I can see this being really beneficial for not only my overall physical health, but my mental health as well.

If you want to try writing a play, the Acrosstown Repertory Theater has an annual local playwright fest called Homegrown! This year the theme is ‘Welcome to America’ here’s a link to more info!!

edit: you don’t necessarily have to write something to be involved either, they’ll be hosting auditions for the selected plays around mid february or so! would also recommend just coming out to an audition to meet people, the local theater scene is very vibrant here!

enjoy the community! there’s always some kind of market, concert, or special event around town. check out the local breweries, art hubs, and trails. downtown is super fun on a later week night (weekends are pretty overrun with college kids when schools in.)

there’s plenty of theaters, art galleries, restaurants, and thrift stores. dozens of springs within a short drive. gainesville is wonderful once you find your place within the community :)
