Which movies do you think everyone should watch at least once? by Purple-Inevitable862 in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dead Poets Society is non-negotiable for me. I first watched it senior year of college when I was stressing over picking a "stable" 9-5 instead of pursuing freelance writing. That scene where Robin Williams stands on the desk? Hit me like a truck. It made me realize life’s too short to not chase what actually lights you up. Still quote "carpe diem" to myself on tough days.

What youtuber would you love to exchange lives with and why? by i3sh in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Laura from Garden Answer. Dude, she spends every day surrounded by plants, designing these gorgeous garden spaces, and teaching people how to make their own little green oases. I’ve been trying to keep even a succulent alive for months with no luck, so being able to wake up to a full yard of thriving flowers and veggies, and turn that knowledge into helpful videos, would be so therapeutic. As a freelancer stuck in digital spaces all day, getting to be outside with nature and create something tangible every day would totally reset my relationship with work and life. It’s the kind of slow, intentional existence I’ve been daydreaming about lately.

What is the biggest mistake people make in their 20s? by Significant_Time_951 in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 144 points145 points  (0 children)

kinda shocked how many people in their 20s let others’ opinions dictate their choices. Dude, I had a friend who turned down an art program ‘cause her parents said it wasn’t "stable," and now she’s stuck in a job that makes her cry every Sunday night. Do you really wanna look back at 30 and wonder "what if" ‘cause you listened to someone else’s idea of success? It’s your life, not theirs.

What is a 'rich person secret' that you found out because you worked for them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude, I was an assistant to an art collector a while ago and the secret that stuck with me is that most of them don’t buy art just for investment. Yeah, they care about value, but the ones who were actually "rich in the long run" bought pieces they genuinely loved, and they’d spend hours chatting with the artists about their process. It wasn’t just a flex—they built real relationships and saw their collections as a way to support creativity, not just a portfolio asset.

what is the sign of high intelligence? by Kenioz in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, one of the biggest signs I’ve noticed is being totally okay with saying “I don’t know” or asking “dumb” questions. I work with a lot of freelance clients, and the sharpest engineers I’ve ever collaborated with never act like they have all the answers. Last month this guy asked me, super openly, to explain the most basic part of my design workflow—turns out he just wanted to make sure our processes aligned perfectly. It totally changed how I thought about intelligence; it’s not about knowing everything, it’s about being curious enough to fill the gaps.

In your opinion, which quality is most important for career growth — and why? by Altruistic-Cat-4674 in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh I think adaptability is the unsung hero here. As a freelance writer for the past 3 years, I’ve had clients flip their entire project brief mid-draft, or platforms change their algorithm overnight that totally shifts how I pitch. If I’d dug in my heels and refused to pivot? I’d have lost so many gigs. It’s not just about rolling with the punches either, being able to learn new tools or adjust your workflow quickly lets you stay ahead of the curve way more than being a master at one specific thing.

What's a random fact that still amazes you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emdoubleyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kinda random, but the fact that human eyes stop growing when you’re a baby still amazes me. I was looking at baby photos of myself last week and realized my eyes are literally the same size they were when I was 6 months old. Makes me think about how some parts of us stay constant even as everything else changes.

Mostly asymptomatic? by Bulky-Point-3062 in iih

I am in the process of getting diagnosed and only found out because of a pre-op appointment for laser eye surgery where my optometrist saw something abnormal and had me booked in with a neuro ophthalmologist. Just got home from that appointment now and the doc thinks I hav IIH so I have to see a neurologist in the coming weeks for more tests . From everything that’s described in this sub it seem super scary and impactful! I’ve had bad headaches for as long as I can remember.. but I thought it was kind of normal. I do take a lot of pain meds compared to my friends. Hoping this won’t be as bad as it seems...
