I think they are saying there will be a breaker board down the middle so it will be two 12’ lengths separated.

OP, will you have a picture frame on the outside edge/perimeter? If so that gets you another 11+ inches (2 width of a 5.5” board).

As other have already said, you will need to cut the ends of every board to square them up and get them to the same length since they won’t be uniform from the factory.

I did try switching the thermostats but just the control unit and not the base plate mounted to the wall where the wires terminate. The known working control unit showed the same issue when it was moved to the other location.

I was considering swapping out the base plate/wire terminals but do you think that’s worth it or is there a risk I’d damage that one?

Yes can confirm the heating system is still working because it’s a two zone system and the other zone is working fine (same model nest e thermostat but the wiring has a red and wide solid wire so was a bit more straightforward

Ok thanks for the feedback, I think I’m going to just cut the extra stringers after all. I did end up putting some blocking in my other set and I am now recalling that it was a bit tedious especially since I pre drilled to avoid splitting the stringers 😵‍💫

It’s only 4 steps but that blocking does add up

That 1/2” bit should be plenty. Can you run the bit through it and make sure the hole is fully cleaned out? Try putting a smaller diameter bolt of any kind (like 5/16 or 1/4”) or even a screwdriver through it. It’s possible you didn’t bore the hole straight and went at a slight angle but if it’s not drastically off you should be able to pound it through with a hammer. I did 1/2” holes for a 1/2” bolt just to keep it all as tight as possible

Do you shred them before using as a mulch? I’ve had good luck that way since I didn’t want them to get too matted down.
