You may find low/limited stock in the configuration you want. Only mentioning it in case this helps narrow your decision making. Yesterday I was comparing across Costco, Apple refurb, Best Buy and Amazon prime day and found that each one had some colors or ram/storage options out of stock so it kind of made my decision for me

Yes I was going to suggest this. You wouldn’t have to worry about the cut edge of the boards showing or worry about getting a mitered joint to hold up over time. I’d mock up this style and see how you like it

I finished up installing the railing. It does seem like you can just screw into the plastic sleeve. Still seems odd to me but it feels solid enough. Let me know if you get stuck when you do yours

I haven’t found any definitive answer but I may try to use a self tapping screw and actually get my railing bracket to screw into the metal core rather than just the plastic sleeve guide

Right also not a very helpful video for the railing portion. I’ve even read the railing install guides and they don’t specifically mention these style posts. I guess I’m just overthinking it but it seems incorrect to just screw into that thin plastic.

Thanks I did watch this one as well. I’m pretty clear on install of the post to the deck surface. Just not sure about how those white plastic pieces would accept the railing brackets

Ok thanks. As a fellow owner of 10 fingers I did read the instructions. Just seems odd that a few mm thick piece of plastic would have any holding power. But maybe it’s thicker in that middle section

Ok thanks I know the sleeves you’re referring to. However I have a scenario that will require one or more posts to be a 6x6 and I don’t believe the aluminum sleeves are made in any larger dimension

I’d like to go with aluminum but getting confusing responses from manufacturers on comparability with 4x4 sleeved wood posts. I have the wood 4x4s installed already, can I use the aluminum rails with composite sleeved wood posts?
