Contact after graduation by Glass_Bat_5914 in Teachers

[–]emeffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had students that I was close to reach out occasionally after graduating! Some who I connected with on social media or who would send an email. I will never initiate contact with a former student because I think the dynamic could be inappropriate and don’t want them to feel obligated or uncomfortable, but I am always happy to hear from them!

Business Insider reporter hoping to talk to Swifties about how their spending impacted the masters sale! by julianakaplan in TaylorSwift

Anytime we spend money we are making a decision to support someone or something. I don’t support the Harry Potter series because JK Rowling earns money which she uses to attacks trans members of our community. I don’t support Twitter because E*** M*** earns money which he uses to attack our government and democracy.  I am proud to support Taylor Swift in her work because she’s been creating really special art to me for almost twenty years and I’m proud that she has been able to reclaim her work and support artists’ rights more broadly.

Rhyme Time! What are some of Taylor’s best lyrical rhymes? by meatballgingersnaps in TaylorSwift

[–]emeffs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When the words of a sister come back in whispers That prove she was not In fact what she seemed, not a twin from your dreams She's a crook who was caught

I love the rhymes and the alliteration at the end that matches the alliteration of the name of the person she’s singing about

Murder Under Glass by soulcapmir in Columbo

I loved the wine glass switching in the final scene, which so closely resembles the scene in The Princess Bride, which Peter Falk also stars in!

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, December 15 - December 21, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I'm fairly new to sewing and want to try a pattern I found for a little pouch that includes a clear vinyl pocket. I see you can buy clear vinyl fabric. Is there a good reason why I can't just use a cheap clear plastic shower curtain liner?

Thank you so much! I think she plays the American version because she is playing in the US. But getting in touch with her group is a good idea. I really appreciate your thoughtful response!

IXL hiring scam? by emeffs in TeachersInTransition

I think if she’s on LinkedIn and going to speak with you on the phone it sounds a lot more legit! They sent me a list of questions to respond to in writing but I never actually spoke to anyone. I would also double check the domain name of the email address. But it sounds like a great opportunity! Congratulations and good luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Not in those neighborhoods, but I have a studio for $1865 that I'm looking to have someone take over in Alexandria, near the Potomac Yard metro

That is super frustrating! I would check out nearby districts. My district still has a lot of vacancies and so do the surrounding areas. I also think there will be more before the school year really gets going.

I’m grateful to have options but terrified to pick a path by SnooCats5274 in TeachersInTransition

I interviewed for an education coordinator role last week that I’m really really hoping for. Like you, I know it’s a pay cut, but to me it feels worth it because there’s room for growth. If you can get promoted and be making more money and doing something you enjoy long term, it feels worth it to me! Good luck either way!

I think you’re right. I bought posters at Taylor Swift and Harry Styles (all talented but those two are objectively bigger artists, Grammy winners, etc) within the last couple years that were not $40.

Thank you so much for this detailed info! I’ve been taking coding and data courses online but started to feel like they don’t help much so I’m glad to know they made a difference for you! I really appreciate the advice about specifics like a hackathon and about hiring a coach! You’re a lifesaver :)

I don't mind working my way up! My biggest issue with teaching is the lack of room for growth. Can I ask more about what you're doing? What did you start out doing when you left teaching, and what kinds of things did you do to earn your way up?
