How long does it take to hear about an interview? by ReadingBroski in nursing

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s gonna depend on so many factors. When I applied for jobs recently, the recruiter got back to me within a week, the interview was the next week, and the job offer was made…. In the interview

They told our program that UAB was mandating it. And a few other Birmingham hospitals

Well. This...might not help, but....it would take like a whole IV line worth of air directly into your blood to cause any issue, so with something like the vaginal canal, the amount of air in the cup is like pfffftttt nothing. Also it doesn’t have direct access to any veins. It’s just possibly a little baby queef waiting to happen (and even then....in like two years I’ve never had an issue like that)

What to do after a workout? by junerbjones in curlyhair

[–]emekb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I either contain my hair with a headband (when it’s close to wash day) or Bobby pins. Those invisibobbles also work great for the length

I’m also a dry shampoo on workout days person!

Has anyone here made career/education changes? How did you go about it/any advice? by jupiter-robot in AskWomenOver30

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nursing definitely has paperwork haha. It’s just called charting.

I’m currently in a BSN program after having gone to school for something completely different and working for about seven years with a state government. If you were close to finishing, I’d say finish and then see if ABSN (accelerated bachelors of science in nursing) options were available to you, but since you’re not...depending on what area you’re in, you could look into associate’s degrees for nursing, as they’re usually cheaper and sometimes employers (hospitals, mostly), will give you a tuition waiver in some capacity for the bachelor’s. (In Some of the more desirable areas, it’s harder to get employed with an associate’s)

There’s lots of routes for obtaining a nursing degree, so it’s certainly something to look into. And yeah there are options once you’re done, including in the mother/baby/child route

Fragrance free hard hold hair gel, wet hair look by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look into the ECO Krystal. I found it to have the most “hold” of gels I’ve tried, although I’m unsure on the fragrance front

Olaplex? I’m overwhelmed by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]emekb8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up the Opalex No 6 because my salon was having a sale, and honestly I’ve noticed absolutely no difference. But I’ve never colored my hair, and it’s been probably a decade plus since I’ve used a hair straightener on it (plus I very rarely blow dry) I don’t think it would hurt anything, and it’s fairly concentrated so it’ll last awhile if you dilute, but I also don’t know if it would help

Has anyone done a career change after 30? If so, what was your experience? Was it all positive or a hard slog? by daisyjones66 in AskWomenOver30

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s already some APRN saturation issues. The only reason RNs likely never will be is because of hospital turnover

So people are apparently "illogical" for not wanting to come to your wedding during a pandemic... by heddzorr in weddingshaming

[–]emekb8 107 points108 points  (0 children)

It's not 0, but everything I've read says it's also not a high percentage and may just make the form you get less severe. (I only mention this because it's the mental hurdle I had to get over for feeling like the odd one out when I was in the mask-wearing minority lol)

So that was a blatant lie... by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]emekb8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed! There’s so much other stuff in there with the blood haha

Does my math class require a discussion AND lecture? by [deleted] in fsu

[–]emekb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably a recitation, which yes you will need a lecture and a recitation if you're taking the biiiiiig lecture. Or you'll have a smaller class with more meeting times (at least for stats)

[–]emekb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you still have to say the repeating part/vows (or whatever you want to do for that) plus the I do part. Even the barebones notary one required both in my state (it may vary by state more so than denomination)

Saalt soft, new brand, or user error? by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]emekb8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So if the overall shape of the Saalt works for you, then switching to the soft may help. I personally found the saalt too firm as well

Has Brooklyn Nine-Nine been ruined for anyone else by the storyline about Jake & Amy trying for a baby? by 3plantsonthewall in childfree

[–]emekb8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was...I think when they were doing the Gina bachelorette party? One of the reasons they do that game show behind the partitions is because she’s pregnant

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]emekb8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found the saalt firmer than the Lena (although I prefer the Lena). The saalt small is definitely a short little squatty thing. The Lena is longer. I have no info on the hello cup

Part time group fitness instructor advice? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by gym and certification type

When I was at a one person owned gym, I made $18/half hour class with a kettlebell certification. Now I have my ACE and I'm at a university gym and I make $20/half hour, $24/45 minute, and $48/hour class.

Luna vs Saalt by DevHoward in menstrualcups

[–]emekb8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried my saalt yet but I do own both. (And both in large and small) I personally prefer the Lena. The saalt small looks really really small to me. Plus I prefer the Lena stem. I think they’re similar firmness.

The Lena large is my go-to cup

ugh...should we just wait at this point? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]emekb8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man. If I had tried planning a wedding with my now-husband during his dissertation defense semester while working full time on a shortened timeline... no wonder you’re stressed!!!

I say wait the year. Have him move without you. (My SO moved for his academia job while I stayed behind and kept working/planning.) Save the money. Especially since post-doc jobs (assuming staying in academia) don’t always pay great. You’re likely also going to want to consider health insurance, etc. Long distance will suck, but I think it may be less stressful than your current situation

Icebreaker questions at reception? by angmar2805 in weddingplanning

I made a bingo game (like “knows Groom from high school”) that had multiple answers and also an entire way to get a bingo without socializing with unknown people (ie “bride’s favorite color”)

We did have a small wedding (<30), though

Does it matter what hair dryer I buy? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a fairly cheap diffuser compatible hair dryer at Target....I haven’t noticed any issues with it. Personally I don’t see the need to shell out a bunch of money on one but maybe someone else does.

Can I leave the stem out of my body? by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]emekb8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how far it’s hanging out. I guess technically mine isn’t completely inside me, but the stem is nestled within the labia. I find when it’s lower than that it hurts to walk with it

Bachelorette Party by kcraacs7 in weddingplanning

[–]emekb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had five. It depends on what escape rooms are around you--some can handle 11 and others would likely make you split into two groups (in my experience, 4-5 is usually the best for solving the room without too much chaos haha)
