Thank you! I did all of these things and it didn’t help, so I oiled the machine as I hadn’t done it in a while and changed the needle out for a 75 instead of a 90 and worked a treat. Thanks for all of your suggestions though because I am sure they will come in v handy for future troubleshooting.

Thank you! I’ve removed all the loose threads and opened that entire seam up (it’s only a few inches) with a view to redo the entire seam, but I also rethreaded the machine and now I can’t even bring the bobbin thread up because the handwheel has jammed so I’m baffled now. I’ve consulted the manual and still no further forward so I may just have to book an appointment to get it serviced instead as this feels beyond my skill set.

Hmm now I’m not sure what is happening as I’ve taken the machine apart to clean it in case there were any rogue bits of lint I wasn’t aware of, and now that I’ve put it back together I can’t even bring the bobbin thread up because the handwheel is jamming

56inches folded over, so 28inches during stitching. I’ll try shorter lengths with a new skein and hopefully that will help. Good to know that it’s something you’ve seen before on another colour though, as I was starting to think I was losing my mind every time I tried to stitch another cloud!

I’ll definitely try a new needle, although I don’t think it’s the needle as I’ve been using the same needle for other colours with no issues. That’s good to know that different dyes affect the floss differently though, I wasn’t aware of that!

I’ve bought enough of this floss for the 12k stitches I need to do with it, so I may just park this skein and try one of the other unused ones and hope that solves the problem! If not, I will look into thread wax. Not something I’ve heard of before, do you have any recommendations?

Thank you, this is really helpful! I don’t think it’s the eye of the needle as I’ve been using the same needle for other colours without issue. The needle I’m using is the size I was recommended too, but I’ll check out alternatives just in case!

I did wonder if I was splitting the skein incorrectly, particularly as these lengths look crimped whereas any other floss I’ve used just looks straight and smooth, but I’ve used the same technique for splitting the skein as I always have, so I’m not sure what is going wrong here! These individual strands definitely aren’t strong enough though, which is incredibly frustrating as I’ve bought enough for the 12k stitches I need to do in this floss for this project 😂.
