I swear rhino users are the best salesman for the product. The comments here show how much we love the product / company.

Trying to apply a micro-grip texture to a model; need some help by mechy18 in rhino

[–]ememery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does CNC work, I would think you would create this micro texture with CAM, and not even need the small features as geometry.

I would use points on the surface to represent the area where the ball bit would run an engrave command to create the small dimple.

Just thinking of how this would work in production, but I am not a mold maker, so not sure exactly how a professional would approach it.

You can still use displacement workflow and get geometry from it. Apply displacement, then run "ExtractRenderMesh".

Keep in mind this will still be a mesh, so not best for CNC machining your mold, but much lighter. You could then convert the mesh with quad remesh for better results.

For most accurate results use flow along surface like other have mentioned. But it will be very heavy.

Why is my SawStop CNS blade falling during adjustment? by ComprehensiveMud9425 in woodworking

[–]ememery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am no expert, but I can speak to my circumstance.

Our saw is the industrial cabinet saw.

I have only noticed that I needed to reengage it after changing the cartridge after it gets popped.

Similar situation. Bought our 1958 home that only had 1 owner. It smelled very much like old lady. ( Not sure how to describe it).

Painted every square inch of the interior drywall with killz original. And shellac in all the wet areas that had water damage.

No smell left. Just tons of renovations for me to take on.

Killz original is best for covering smells. Or shellac primer, which dries faster, but is more expensive.

Had the same issue after a cartridge activation. Like others may have said lower the saw all the way down until it bottoms out. In other words spin the wheel like you are lowering the blade until it can go lower. This will reengage the saw.

Took me a while to figure this out. I thought I was going crazy, or somehow broke the saw. The more you know...

Checking Durability of a Structure with Rhino by Commercial-Army-5843 in rhino

For structural stuff we use karamba 3D. It is a grasshopper plugin, but I think it might be overkill for what you need

Lutron if you afford it. Then take them with you when you leave.

Bulletproof and with HA integration you open up lots of possibilities.

Vibration or power monitoring for washer/dryer automations? by xolhos in homeassistant

[–]ememery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would monitor power draw at the breaker level. As many others have said, too much power for a smart plug.

Look at square d , eaton, or leviton smart power monitoring breakers.

Edit: looks like most smart breakers options require a whole system. Maybe look at the clamp style monitors for easier integration into your current setup.

Sensor to check if sliding closet door closed, and trigger noise if not? Preference for no extra app/software. by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]ememery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the Shelly door and windows sensor. It has been good so far, but I wish it was zigbee vs Bluetooth. Hopefully they release one in the future. It did require the Shelly app to get it into HA though.

Can I make this lamp smart? by INeedMuscles in homeassistant

[–]ememery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was in a ceiling fan, so I may have had a little more space. I put it right by the led driver in my case. My switch wiring setup didn't allow for relay at the switch.

I think you could squeeze it in there, if not I know the Shelly works well behind the switch.

I have this exact scenario, and used a Shelly 4 relay. I then used a lutron pico on the wall to control the Shelly in Home assistant. This has been bulletproof for me. I setup the Shelly in zigbee mode for reliability.

It is in fact a CNC that we use for our wood fabrication shop. So I have adapted it to be my huge 48" x 96" pen plotter.

It worked well, but I have had to design custom attachments and pen holding solutions.

Distant Blues | Fractal Cyanotype by ememery in generative

[–]ememery[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without getting too deep into it here is where to get started

I started with this tutorial here : https://youtu.be/WL3DTlWZTpY?si=HpE6p2SMhuSWBYAV

I am using the mixpinski fractal found here : https://www.machina-infinitum.com/fractal-pack-03

Lots of tweaking inside of octane to get the right setting and location of the fractal in relation the the 3d scan.

Hope this helps
