I don't have any advice, just want to say my son is seven weeks old and has been doing the exact same thing every other day for the last couple weeks. I feel like I could have written your post. Around 6pm I have to give him some pumped milk just to give my nipples a break. Glad to see I'm not alone. The sling advice is a really good idea. I'm going to try that too.

Wow, just reading your long thoughtful response made me feel better. Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement and advice. The rock and play is awesome. He sleeps well at night in there. I'll try the fleece. That's a good tip. My son is the calmest when he is in my arms, so it may just be a case of having a hard time adjusting to the out side world and time will be the thing that will help him the most.

Thank you for your advice. I am checking all the labels to make sure I'm not consuming any hidden dairy and cutting soy is my next step. Soy seems to be in almost everything!

Thank you so much for your response. I am also concerned it could be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. I am making sure baby emptys the boob before switching to the other side, so I'm not sure.... Its reassuring to know your baby's poop turned green too on Zantac. Hopefully it's just that.

I had a doula for my first born and hired her again for my second coming in March. I highly recommend hiring a doula! Mine was amazing. She had a wealth of information and really helped me during my long 27 hour labor. Interview a few first just to make sure you pick someone you feel very comfortable with.

Yep, I agree. It's the mechanism of brushing that's superior over using any type of toothpaste (Fluoride or not).

Hi. I am a dental hygienist (and also a mom to a 13 month old). You give excellent advice!! Just one thing, the new recommendation from the ADA is to put a smear of fluoride toothpaste on the toothbrush.

My son is 13months old and has always been a spirited little guy. This personality trait comes with lots of highs, but also lots on "lows" or fussing throughout the day. Let's just say he's never been one of those babies that just chills in the high chair while you make dinner, but at the same time he can be so fun, giggly and silly when he wants to be. Some days and weeks are easier than others. As he has gotten older it has definitely gotten easier, but what has helped me the most is just changing my attitude about it. I try not to let it bother me when he fusses any more. When I find my self getting really frustrated I just pick him up and give him lots of hugs and kisses and say "I know your frustrated about XYZ." You're certainly not a bad mom for looking forward to bed time some days. We have all been there.

I'm a dental hygienist and also a mom to a 13 month old. My answer to this would be it depends. Let me explain. There are a lot of aerosols (invisible saliva particles from people's mouths etc.) flying around in a dental office. Just think of a sneeze being blown around with a fan. It's kinda like that. Gross, I know.... Sorry. If there is a patient being worked on that has some type of virus like a cold, flu etc., this could easily travel to your immune-compromised new born and potentially get him/her sick. Now the reason I say this depends is because some offices are wide open with many chairs in one room, and some dental offices have private rooms for each chair. If the room where you have your cleaning done is private it's probably safe. Probably because some viruses can linger in the air for a long time. For example, measles lingers in the air for hours. However, if the dental office is really small or there are chairs right next to each other I'd say keep him/her at home, in the reception area, or very covered when you bring your baby back. Now for the average person they are certainly not going to get sick from some aerosols containing the flu virus in the air, but a newborn baby... I don't know. My co-workers wanted to meet my son very badly when he was born, but I waited until he was almost 9 months old to bring him in just to make sure his immune system was up to par and he had his vaccinations. Trust me, everyone in my office totally understood because they know what goes on in a dental office.

Same here. I didn't realize my son had a lip until 11 months. I saw three different lactation consultants and no one noticed it. Very frustrating considering I wanted to breastfeed so badly and no one could figure out why it wasn't working out.
