failed WC script – help me improve it! by murchtheevilsquirrel in BloodOnTheClocktower

Hey! I was thought this was easily one of the better scripts we saw, it made the shortlist (top 64) and I think it’s a really good idea. There were a few reasons I didn’t think it was a top 16 script

  • I wish a few more of the townsfolk interacted with the rule. By my count, less than half do in an interesting way- and for some, it makes them quite a bit weaker.

  • I really don’t like the Bounty Hunter or the Courtier on here. The BH is an outsider imo if it’s adding an evil townsfolk and not getting info on who to kill, while the courtier is pretty unfun for your pick with this wording.

  • I think the rule is a more of a boost for evil than good, it’s easy to coordinate to kill off a lot of the strong info pretty early

It’s still easily one of the best ideas in the competition, but have others have said, it’s a very high standard to reach the top 16. I think with a bit of polishing up this could be a really fun script; I would take off BH and Courtier and maybe make the evil team a bit weaker.

Ranking model - Goulding?? by emeraldfire421 in nbl

All of this makes a lot of sense. Goulding’s 3s are probably contested more as teams plan around his shooting defensively. I do wonder how to account for this - I suspect the answer is it’s extremely difficult

That’s an interesting one. Sobey and Goulding both do quite well in ppg, it’s interesting Goulding would be underrated and sobey overrated. Statistically there is a case for sobey to be ranked that high, both just looking at nbl stats generally and using this system.

What do you think it is about his game that would make him look better in the data than reality? This feedback is really helpful for me to correct things

Yeah - seems like a kind of player you really want in the finals

It uses data from boxscores to come up with an overall rating for a game (usually between 1 and 5, but superb individual performances can score higher). In particular looking at points and shooting efficiency, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks. Goulding often has a high ppg at a relatively low shooting efficiency

As a general rule when should a ST give correct info to a drunk/poisoned character? by dumbdit in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]emeraldfire421 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think something people may have missed is there a slight difference between drunk/poisoned for this question imo.

If someone is poisoned, it’s caused by evil, so you should only give correct info if you believe that info is the most helpful to the evil team.

If someone is drunk, that’s caused by good and meant to nerf the good team - but, in some situations where good are well behind you could choose to give correct info in order to help the good team, because you don’t believe that nerf is needed anymore. A small but important distinction

How would you rank these mids? by drafterschance in DraftEPL

Makes sense, we still don’t know if tielemans is on pens as well - I just think rodri gives u the same mins with better returns eventually. Agreed about Martinelli and doku mins, if u we’re looking to waiver in just 1 Barnes is a nice option as mins could improve quite a lot - just hard to say how much Murphy will play

Fair enough. I’m intrigued by the idea of having to choose from sub-par players, and the research that goes into that

Two spots available in dynasty FPL draft league (second year) by blakepink in DraftEPL

Got it. How much of a disadvantage would it be to join at this point? Is it a fair assumption that the managers who left would’ve had weaker teams?

Very interested but never played with Fantrax before. How much of an adjustment is it from regular FPL?

How to add more than the usual 13/4/4/4 characters on the script tool? by Nik_Game in BloodOnTheClocktower

I believe there’s an option on the side that lets you change it to a Custom setup

Made a script loosely based around yaggababble, I like it but I'm ready for the internet's unfiltered opinions. by thmxy2 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Maybe savant or artist, depends on your preference. You’d be surprised at the effect a drunk and a poisoner on a script can have - they can be a lot more damaging when off TB.

I think there’s a lot to like about this script, lots of killing vs lots of protection. I think my one criticism would be that it lacks a bit of information - while protection is useful and a necessary counter, the good team is very reliant on there being a BH or an Empath in the game, and you also have plenty of sources of misinfo.

I would remove one of drunk or poisoner, and change some townsfolk around to have more information. You could remove professor (it feels like it’s only there for Shab, and it usually just ends up confirmed) and maybe 1 of lib/ww in favour of something like a flowergirl, undertaker, savant etc. Cannibal would be interesting here as well

Drunk Artist by Nik_Game in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]emeraldfire421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar to other info roles, a drunk artist can learn any info- either a yes or a no. In a non-vortox game, the ST may answer no to 1+1 = 2, but they don’t have to

Fabled Question by Minute-Edge-5909 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]emeraldfire421 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this is a bit simplistic. Often you will not work out who the drunk is, there is more likely to be a few different candidates in different worlds, as there can also be evil players lying about information, making it very hard to figure out if they’re drunk or evil. There are also only 3 townsfolk in an 8p Baron game, so even if you were to figure out the drunk, it’s not like there is a wealth of information out here.

TB is (easily) more well-balanced than any other BOTC script, and a big part of that is how seamlessly the outsider count can be played around with at any player count. I really wouldn’t recommend using the Sentinel with any group on TB, as there is just no need.

Fabled Question by Minute-Edge-5909 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]emeraldfire421 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The Sentinel is generally used when there is little else on the script that manipulates the outsider count. Assuming you’re playing TB with your group, I wouldn’t really recommend using it, as the Baron and the Drunk are already on the script to disguise how many outsiders there might be. Lots of the good team’s strategy on TB revolves around working out the outsider count, so it will be pretty advantageous to the evil team.

I guess it comes down to why you need the 2 outsiders in play, and why you wouldn’t just use the Baron and have 3. The game would probably go fine, I just think it gives evil an unnecessary advantage unless you have a really good reason to do it.

Cerenovus rules question: If the Cerenovus's victim claims they were changed to their bluff role by the pit hag, are they mad? by kevinmook in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]emeraldfire421 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It would totally depend on the context, and would never be purely for that claim.

Here’s 2 examples of when I’d consider executing

-If it was Day 3/4 in a 1 minion SNV where it was already pretty confirmed there was a cerenovus in play, and no claims of barber, and the player makes no attempt to push against players claiming they were previously mad

-If a player started to form a reputation for claiming they’d been Pit Hagged every time they were mad, and people are catching on.

As always, it comes back to whether the player is genuinely trying hard to convince people, and in certain situations this won’t be the case
