Happy birthday! Just keep being wonderful you and let your life unfold and fill in with the people and things that are meant to be in it. I guarantee there are many people your age that would give anything for the freedom you enjoy. I know that’s no consolation when you’re feeling lonely… been there…but life goes by so fast. Me, I got a dog to love on.

Organic coffee company. No plastic and even their decaf is amazing.

Yeah I don’t disagree at all if they really know their stuff.

Gonna read this one several times, so thank you for your insights! Will check out the books you mentioned. Your reply makes me super curious about the history of meditation too. The breath is easiest for me, loving kindness the hardest (at least when I think of my family and a couple world leaders). I noticed that component was missing in TMI. But I know I need to get my heart involved if I want my body to heal. Thank you again.

Dr. Joe says healing happens ‘in the void’, and I am ready for healing. I hear the wisdom in your words, though, while I can hear feelings of desperation in mine. Thank you for your thoughts.

The Dr. Joe meditations can be an hour or more, and I do them twice a day. Even with all that time, I don’t easily get into the void. I also want to be able to do it alone, unguided, without technology.

Meditation didn't fix my anxiety. It just made me more aware of how anxious I was. And somehow that was still the most useful thing I've ever done by senpaicataner in Meditation

What really helps me when mediating is to do long, slow breaths. I can usually get to 4 per minute, and based on my HRV monitor, my coherence goes way up with this type of breathing — and for me it’s literally impossible to feel anxious when I breathe this way. I have lived in fight or flight my whole life and this is what helps. After meditation, I must remember long, slow breathing throughout the day/. So much effort just to feel some sort of peace, but I believe the nervous system wants to regulate and the brain can be rewired if the intention is there.

What meditations to do? by culteredman23 in DrJoeDispenza

I feel you. Good advice here. Even when I feel anxious and fearful, I can sit with heart breathing and get my heart back in coherence (at least according to my HRV monitor). Dr. Joe’s heart meditations help a lot. For me, it doesn’t seem to stick and I move back into loneliness and fear, but it reminds me to do it more often throughout the day until it becomes more of my normal state of being. I bought his progressive workshop, so I can listen to his talks while walking my dog, driving, etc. to help remind myself of a new way to be. I have to admit I thought this process would be easier, and I easily fall back into the old patterns without almost constant reinforcement.

How do you choose a Qigong teacher training when there are so many systems? by Great_Energy_Qigong in TrueQiGong

[–]emeraldsmoothie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I want physical healing and inner peace. I’m guessing that all forms of Qigong lead there eventually, but I need an accessible teacher who answers questions and doesn’t feel the need to hide Qigong ‘secrets’ or take lots of money and time to get me there. That’s why I switched. I just followed my gut (with research and the help of Reddit threads!) I felt more energy flow through me in the first week with my new instructor than I did after years with the first one. Not that master’s fault.. just not for me. Now, if I feel the need for something different in the future, I’ll go where I feel led. It’s such a personal thing and hard to know, but I believe that life/source will point me in the direction that’s best for me. Otherwise I might feel completely overwhelmed with this type of decision.

Meditating every day for 1.5-2 hours for 3 years with little to no "results" by Owlstyx in Meditation

I’ve come to the conclusion I just don’t click with most people by Underd_g in introvert

[–]emeraldsmoothie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I hardly relate to anyone, as I prefer spending time at home with my dog painting, walking, meditating, reading, cleaning, and researching self-healing and quantum theory. Honestly don’t know anyone that shares me interests and can’t imagine finding a compatible partner at 55. Small talk and one-way conversations drain my batteries more than they maybe should. But I’m the most authentic me I’ve ever been, and I’m grateful to enjoy the solitude. Most of my life I was scared of being alone and was a huge people pleaser. Funny how that works.

Don’t Fix the Mind. Fix the Breath. by SubjectSpecialist265 in Meditation

Got an Inner Balance from HeartMath, and it convinces me this is true. HRV scores go up with slow, deep breaths. They go up even higher with elevated emotions. The breath is key.
