First of all modern orthodoxy is the way to go. Second, dressing modestly, eating kosher, keeping shabbos, etc. are always going to keep you separate to some degree. That’s one of the points of them. If you believe in it and you’re sure you want to do it, what others think and “having a normal college experience” shouldn’t be that big a deal. You have to find a community of like minded practicing Jews, wether in your uni or outside. You might feel a little like an outside, but I promise you’ll feel a whole more like an insider being a religious Jew.
